Point with 5 players in double figures again.

Point Game Summary

That's not helping my fantasy league selection choices! Glad to see other players stepping up and willing to shoot the rock.  I like it, but the defense needs a lot of work!  At least we are winning.

Oshkosh knocks of Edgewood in OT, 64-54.

La Crosse tops Ripon 81-57

Beloit up on Whitewater 23-22 6 min. to go in 1st half.

No Lindfors in the first half for WW against Beloit....broken hand??

Pioneer_fan04

bit late but UW-Platteville takes care of Goshen College 82-53.  Jake Manning had a double double (5th career) 16 points and 12 boards, 9 coming in the 1st half.  Jim Stocki led the Pioneers with 18 points.  Freshmen Corey Vassan also had a good game off the bench.  Early in the season Platteville is going about 10 deep even when the game is still somewhat in doubt.  Goshen isnt an awful team as I see they beat Eau Claire today, they have a couple of athletes on their team including speedster PG Kyle Davis.  I really think the Pioneers could have one of the best front courts in the WIAC with Cross Manning Stallion and Vaassen.

RF loses to a pretty good Northwestern (MN) team, 78-69. White, Smith, Berthene lead Falcons w/21,16, 11 respectively. RF held to 28 pts. second half after gaining a two point lead at halftime, 41-39.

Wasn't able to watch tonight, how did we handle the River Falls bigs?  RF outscored us 40-24 in the paint but looks like some long offensive rebounds might have been the difference.

Slow start by whitewater today, by hot shooting in the second half gets UWW past Beloit, 75-68.

AO--my streaming was in and out so I did not see a lot, but stats show a ten or higher offensive rbd. advantage for NW. Plus, NW turned it over about 6 times compared to 14 or so for the Falcons. And somebody clamped down on Smith who had 14 at half time but got 2 second half.

Another big slate of games involving WIAC teams today.

Stevens Point at St. Olaf
Goshen vs Eau Claire (at Platteville)
Ripon vs. La Crosse (in Wisconsin Dells)
Edgewood vs Oshkosh (in Wisconsin Dells)
River Falls at Northwestern (MN)
Beloit at Whitewater
Simpson (IA) vs Stout (in St. Paul)

Should be a WIAC sweep today except for Edgewood taking care of Oshkosh.
Good thing the Pick'Em hasn't started yet!!!  ;)

(In all fairness I likely would have agreed with you!!!)

No Lindfors in the first half for WW against Beloit....broken hand??

Lindfors is returning to Minnesota-Morehead (or wherever it was that he transferred from) for academic reasons.  His credits didn't transfer the way it was thought they would and he can graduate much quicker by finishing up there.  At this point he is more concerned with graduating then basketball.

Beloit opened the game with a 8-0 run and built a 14 point lead, 17-3, early in the half before the WARHAWKS got going and took their only lead of the half, 24-23, with about four and half minutes remaining.  Beloit answered that with a pair of runs of their own and had a seven point lead, 37-30, when the half ended.  Beloit shot 59% in the half to the WARHAWKS 36%.  Beloit maintained a lead through much of the second half.  The WARHAWKS kept the game close but couldn't get over the hump until Eric Bryson's three-pointer with eight and half minutes remaining gave them their first lead of the second half 62-61.  Missed free throws and a missed three-pointer kept the WARHAWKS from building on the lead and Beloit went back on top 63-62 on a layup.  That would be the Buccaneers last lead as KJ Evans made a free throw to tie the game and jumper that gave the WARHAWKS the lead for good.  Beloit did get back to within a single point a short time later but steals by Evans and Young followed by breakaway layups stretched the margin to five points and some key rebounding by Evans and three of four from the line by Cody Odegaard sealed the win 75-68.  It was the  WARHAWKS  who had the hot hand shooting in the second half making 62% of their shots to Beloit's 42%.

Quardell Young led the WARHAWKS scoring with 17 points.  Young also had a game high 4 steals.  Luke Knoble added 14 points and had a team high 7 rebounds.  Odegaard also scored in double figures with 13 points.

Beloit's James Lazarcik led all scorers going 10-10 from the floor and finishing with 23 points.  Tyler Butke was 11-16 from the floor adding 22 points.  Lazarcik also had a game high 15 rebounds as the Buccaneers  dominated the boards 41-27.

Free throws and turnovers, as is often the case, played a big part in the WARHAWKS pulling out the win.  The WARHAWKS were 16-25 from the free throw line to Beloit's 7-12 and had 10 turnovers to Beloit's 22 which gave them a 23-7 scoring advantage off of turnovers.  Despite being dominated on the boards the WARHAWKS outscored Beloit 32-18 in the paint and the WARHAWKS depth gave them a 32-14 scoring edge off the bench.

The credits may have something to do with it but I'm going to have to stick with my source and think that he just wasn't fitting in with his teammates, and that's a nice way of putting it.  Good luck to him at Morehead.

He really should get his priorities straight! LOL.  In all seriousness, I wish him the best and hope he gets his academic life in order.

I went to northwestern last night to watch uwrf.......and from the two games I've seen, it appears their issue this year will be consistency.  They started out great against a team with almost no size, but got outplayed from about the ten minute mark of the first half.  From that point on, they looked like a group that hasn't had a chance to play together.  Other than Ollie white, northwestern was able to handle the bigs by swarming the post with quicker players.  The game was won with nw's defense and ability to keep getting long offensive rebounds and turning them into points........seemed like there were at least half a dozen times where they missed a shot only to rebound it and hit a three.

Arik Smith had a solid game and looks to be the breakout player for uwrf this year.  Ollie White was solid once again.  Uwrf plays @ St. Thomas on Tuesday.

This is the first time there's going to be non-D3Hoops provided video for a Pointer game and I'm excited about it!

I knew that UWSP had its own UStream channel and I caught a couple of VB games this fall... but there had been VB and hockey games last year too, so I didn't know if we'd have hoops any time soon.

I don't know if there will be commentary. The VB didn't have any (just the video) and I don't know how much work it would take to sync up the radio broadcast to the video (more, perhaps, than student broadcasters? I don't know...), but either way, it's definitely a step up in the world!
