Tonight's schedule:

   Viterbo      UW-La Crosse      7:00 PM
UW-Eau Claire      Hamline (MN)      7:00 PM
UW-River Falls      St. Thomas (MN)      7:30 PM
Illinois Inst. of Tech.      UW-Platteville      8:00 PM
Gustavus Adolphus (MN)      UW-Stout      8:00 PM
   St. John's (MN)      UW-Stevens Point      8:00 PM

And if the schedule on the Point and WIAC websites can be believed... there's going to be VIDEO!
Linky

This is the first time there's going to be non-D3Hoops provided video for a Pointer game and I'm excited about it!

I knew that UWSP had its own UStream channel and I caught a couple of VB games this fall... but there had been VB and hockey games last year too, so I didn't know if we'd have hoops any time soon.

I don't know if there will be commentary. The VB didn't have any (just the video) and I don't know how much work it would take to sync up the radio broadcast to the video (more, perhaps, than student broadcasters? I don't know...), but either way, it's definitely a step up in the world!

When I've watched video through UStream and listened to the game on the radio there has always been a lag between the two.  If that's the case here you'll hear the call before you see the play.  Of course if the broadcast is with the video they'll be in sync.

Yep, it can definitely be interesting to either hear then see... or see then hear.

It may be different for this broadcast, because it's in Stevens Point, but the last two games, the video made it through first and then the audio.

That's probably because the signal had to go from Appleton or Minnesota back to Stevens Point, then broadcast/simulcast over the internet, instead of just the direct feed over the internet.

There have been a few times when I've managed to sync or nearly sync them up... either due to lag on the video, or by pausing and restarting the video (doesn't always work though).

It can lead to amusing outcomes.  Once when watching a WARHAWK football game while listening to the radio through headphones my daughter came over to where I was sitting and started watching the video.  Shortly afterward we completed a long pass for a touchdown which I heard on the radio but hadn't been shown on the video yet.  So I bet her $5 that the next play would be a touchdown pass.  She bit hook, line and sinker.  I never did get that $5 though.  :D

Anybody getting the online stream for the Point game??  It still says off air but the game is going on because I'm listening to it.

Falcons lose at UST 75-62. Arik Smith had about 20 for RF. Streaming was ok, but stats given by announcers were shaky. Tommies double teamed Ollie White, UT  Udo effectively down low. UST up by 10 at half, Falcons cut it to 4-6, but could never do better than that. Tommies return all 5 starters and 10/11 players from last year.

I didn't get it to work either, though I wasn't home the whole time and couldn't figure out how to use the u stream ap on my phone.

I guess we now see why Jack Taylor transferred from UWL to Grinnell... Coach Koelbl didn't schedule enough cupcakes or let him shoot enough...?

Was that more points than he likely would have gotten in a season at LaX? ::)

I'm NOT a 'give trophies to everyone' guy, but I find a scoring record against a team like that more disgusting than praiseworthy.  How can he possibly take pride in an NCAA record in a game they won by that margin?

LaCrosse won a sloppy game over Viterbo.  I was with Brian Carroll and Big K, so I'm sure one of them will have more to report.

Agreed! It's more shameful than anything as a coach. And to tell all your other players to just give him the ball?..... Disappointing.

UW-Platteville destroyed Illinois Tech tonight 105-20.  The Pioneers were suppose to play at North Park tonight but in July North Park backed out for whatever reason and Platteville scrambled to find an opponent and came up with Illinois Tech, to reach the 25 game total.  All healthy 17 players saw court time for Platteville and Jim Stocki led them with 12 points.  15 of the 17 players scored for the Pioneers who led 49-10 at the half.  Illinois Tech has combined to score 40 points vs Platteville and North Central that is less then 1/3 the amount of point Lax transfer Jack Taylor scored alone tonight for Grinell.  (should any scoring record count if it happens at Grinell tho :P)

Who put together this early season schedule for Platteville? Game number four before we actually get to a D-III opponent? Grinnell's coach called to express his disappointment in scheduling so many cupcakes. Yikes.

I am going to guess that the UWP schedule has to do with hosting their two tournaments.

Looking at their online media guide from last year - the home court advantage is pretty impressive - IMO.  If you include their overall home record of 10-3 last year - it looks like they have lost only 50 total games at home since 1987 - 30+ years!!  :o

If I am looking to get important wins to start my season - as a coach - why would I play there? (Other than money...)  ;)
On the flip - for the same reason - if I am Platteville why go on the road??

We have come along way in basketball circles when a WIAC DIII team loses by 7 to a Mid Major DI and we can call it a cupcake schedule.   ;D

As long as people continue to believe that anyone can coach - They will also continue to believe that anyone can criticize a coach.

Greek Tragedy

I thought I remember someone posting that Platteville's original opponent backed out, so they got either the Ill. Tech team or the Groshen team.  Can't remember.

Like I already posted Platteville was suppose to travel to North Park last night but NP backed out and they scrambled to fill a 25th opponent.  I am aware of the fact that Platteville is yet to play an NCAA III opponent but they did have an exibition game vs DI UIC i believe they play a DII team in their California trip plus they travel to North Central and Augustana and Goshen although NAIA beat Eau Claire.  Meat and potatos are nice but everyone needs a cupcake from time to time.
