Harris has scored 131 points in 13 games.  Subtracting the 32 he scored against IWU he has 99 in 12 games.   That's 8.3 points per game.  He has a total of 59 rebounds.  Subtracting the 6 he had against IWU leaves him with 53 in 12 games.  That's 4.4 per game.

8.3 points, 4.4 rebounds makes Harris the leading scorer and rebounder among freshman in the conference.

The next two weeks will determine what Stout is made of.

They travel to 1st place and undefeated Stevens Point tomorrow. The Blue Devils hit the road again to Oshkosh over the weekend. Last year, Stout escaped 71-68 at Kolf. Next Wednesday, they welcome La Crosse, who play at Point the previous Saturday. To top off their stretch, Stout travels to Whitewater to play the Warhawks and some over-rated, lazy, selfish, highly touted freshman named Darnell Harris.  :P  ::)

Agreed! The next 2 weeks will determine what kind of ball club Stout is. They have had a GREAT 1st half of the season and now is their chance to step up and prove they belong near the top of the conference. Playing at Stevens Point is a very, very difficult, almost impossible, place to win, the trip to Oshkosh is long and the Kolf Center seems to usually bring a tough crowd,  Lax is playing well and hopefully we can protect the home floor, and of course WW is, well Whitewater. Hopefully for them Odegaard gets healthy soon. Hopefully Stout steps up and I see a realistic chance of going 3-1 over next 4 games. Fingers crossed  :o ..........

Really? I've never perceived the crowd at Kolf to be "tough," except maybe the River Falls game last year, but hey if that is what folks coming in see it as, all the better I guess.

As for Wallace, he has not done much against any stiff competition. His best games were a against some weaker non-con opponents. He has also been out the last 1.5 games with a concussion.

Most of the games I have been at in Oshosh there are always a few heckling and "annoying" fans. I know the fan base isn't necessarily large, but in my experience playing the worst games are the gyms you can hear every individual comment said by the few people there. Just an opinion on it..........

I have not looked at individual box scores for Wallace or all their competition. People are talking about the GREAT, and it was great, game Harris had against a very difficult opponent in IWU with 32 points, 6 3's, and 6 reb. Im not saying 10 pts a game for a freshman is not solid, but 32 game in ONE game. That means he has scored well under 10 points a game in a lot of the other games.

I always try and look at things logically and sometimes it doesnt always work the way I see it, but thats just an example of how I see his numbers so far this season.

This is true. The two women that head up the boosters can be particularly vocal. And yeah the lack of din allows for individual voices to cut through.

I also may have missed the point you were trying to make about Wallace. I thought you were saying he deserved more recognition and based on your response that doesn't seem to be the case.

Im sure Wallace is a solid player by the numbers, but the point was all the talk is about Harris, Harris, Harris and there are other players, even freshman, that are making similar impacts for their team and there is no talk about them. I know most members on the board are Pointer and Warhawk fans/alumni so it is somewhat to be expected. No disrespect meant to Wallace or Harris.

Like I mentioned before Wallace is actually above Harris in rebounds with 4.6 per game. Which is irrelevant because it is a 1 rebound difference, but the point I was making is Harris is 6' 7", long, and athletic. How does a player with these attributes not get more rebounds? in my experience it's effort. Harris is the leading scorer among freshman in the conference, but again mentioned in my earlier posts Harris has taken 126 FGA (69 3pt), the most on WW's team and although I do not want to go through the research, I would assume the most among freshman by far in the conference. He SHOULD be the leading scorer among freshman by more than he is.

Gotcha.

Greek Tragedy

Effort could be a factor, but a lot more can go into it. Positioning is a big factor. It also depends on who he's guarding. Maybe his guy likes to hang out in the perimeter. Maybe he doesn't know how to rebound...what I mean by this is that I played soccer in college. There were a lot of players better than me but they were clueless when it came to "field awareness"...where to be at what time, anticipating passes etc. Some just have better instincts. Look, he is a freshman, I'm sure he will get better!

Big games in the WIAC tonight......

Stout (4-1) at Point (5-0)
Two of the conferences best teams square off at 7pm tonight. Still no news on Tillema's return to tonights game. Stout is leading the nation in defensive fg% through 13 games and 2nd in defensive ppg. Point has been playing well even without their superstar. I see this game being a battle all the way through and some emotions start showing. Even without Tillema I see the Pointers coming away with a close win. Although I picked SP in the pick ems im rooting for my Blue Devils :). 59-55 Pointers Win

Whitewater (4-1) at Platteville (4-2)
Platteville is coming off a dominating performance at home against Superior while the Warhawks are coming off of a somewhat unespected close game against the Falcons. WW is still without gaurd Cody Odegaard out with a broken hand. I think Plattevile is ready to go and WW is a little unstable. Platteville wins at home in an upset. 79-71 Pioneers over WW

River Falls (0-5) at LAX (4-1)
The Falcons travel down to LAX after a great effort against the nationally ranked Warhawks last saturday. That was a game to show RF is on the radar for a possible spoiler game in the future of conference play. Lax has been playing very, very well and I don't see them losing on their dark, home floor to a winless (conference) team. The loss of Ollie White makes the season more difficult than they were hoping. 74-58 Lax takes care of business.

Eau Claire (0-6) at Oshkosh (1-4)
EC takes the long trip to the east side of the state. This is a "big win" hypothetically for these teams to really get going for a shot at the 6th spot in the playoffs. With Superior (2-4) on bye, it gives these teams a chance to get into position. Eau Claire has not impressed me in the games I have seen but battled against Point. I dont see the Blugolds getting up the energy after a long trip to jump on the Titans and hold them off for a win. 82-71 Titans win in a shoot off.

We'll see if I'm anywhere close to what really happens in these games lol  ::)

I think Harris is more comfortable facing the basket than having his back towards it. The amount of 3's he attempts is evidence of this. Maybe he spends too much time around the perimeter, preventing him from getting rebounds.

Just a theory

Greek Tragedy

I think BW said something before about Harris' style of play and that Whitewater asking him to play more of a traditional post position was asking him to make a big adjustment.

I will try my luck...

Eau Claire at Oshkosh

In an effort to slow down the game and pull out a close one at Kolf, Eau Claire resorts to four -corners for the entire game. The 34 fans in attendence disapprove and Oshkosh counters with their own version of Grinnell's " System". Oshkosh pulls out the victory 68-62.

River Falls at La Crosse

In an effort to take full advantage of the dark surroundings in the gym, River Falls sneaks in Rich Melzer to help out. The tactics don't work as La Crosse has Joe Werner waiting in the wings in case things get close. Luckily for Werner, the Eagles win easily, 78-58.

Whitewater at Platteville

Whitewater pensions the WIAC to have Platteville move to the IIAC due to ther close proximity to Dubuque, Iowa. Whitewater claims they are "looking out" for Platteville since both Loras and Dubuque are closer and easier to travel to than Superior and River Falls. Their efforts fail and the Warhawks still have to play the Pioneers. Platteville welcomes them with a 72-70 win.

Stout at Stevens Point

To prevent a repeat of last year's miracle finish by Oman and the Blue Devils, Semling has his players triple team Oman right when crosses the center line, even if he doesn't have the bqll. This allows Olson to shoot more than 3 times in one game. Due to shock, Olson misses all his field goal attempts after his 3rd shot. Stevens Point eventually takes advantage and puts all fears to rest, 81-72.

I find all of these extremely funny for some reason, especially River Falls sneaking in Rich Melzer.

As for my picks...

Stevens Point handles Stout at home fairly easily 72-62.

La Crosse beats River Falls, but closer than people think, especially with Point looming in the near future for the Eagles. 68-60 La Crosse.

I think that Platteville takes out Whitewater. The Pioneers are a way better team at home and Odegaard is a bigger loss for the Warhawks than people think. 67-62 Pioneers.

Oshkosh finally snaps there nearly two year WIAC losing streak at home with a victory over Eau Claire 75-72.

How about Platteville joining the CCIW? UWP is already giving some IL-based students discounted tuition rates. The same deal goes to students from Iowa as well. So a move to the IIAC works too.

Pretty funny stuff. Might be smart of Point to triple team Oman constantly  8-)

Was just thinking this earlier...You'd think with having one of the top, if not the top, men's basketball program in the country you could afford to live video stream your games
