UWSP is selling their old bench chairs. As of about 3:00 this afternoon the middle one (the oldest style) was already sold out. I honestly don't know how many will be left tomorrow afternoon!
I can't believe there's any to sell. At every school I've been at, those chairs tend to disappear as seniors graduate.

They must have kept them under lock and key then. I don't ever remember seeing them except on game days.

I wanted to buy one tmw after the game, it looks like I might not get a chance to do that.

I was at a school that got 60 brand new padded chairs. I personally ran a cable through all of them, locked the cable and put them all in a locked storage closet.

Came back the next day, and I had 57 chairs.

Maybe some of the chairs were cannibals, Bill.

Or maybe The BeltTM just wanted a place for him and a couple of friends to hang out.

Can we deny that The BeltTM deserves a 'Man Cave'?

Or maybe Pointers are just more honest than those other-schoolers...?

I haven't tried the vid today, but they have live stats, which I don't remember at any point in the past.

Sup sticks it UWW today.

D'oh!

Superior wins 69-66

I can't remember Superior ever shooting as well as they did today...

Sup shoots 52% and holds Whitewater to 41%.

Superior's turnovers almost lost it for them, but Whitewater couldn't capitalize.

Big Boy Byrne had a great game today, for 16 points (12 in the second half) and 5 boards on 7/8 shooting from the field. Whitewater couldn't do much but try to deny him the ball... when he got it inside, he was going to score, but they did get a few steals.

I don't think that Superior is quite using Byrne as well as they could. I think back to how Platteville used to run sets to isolate inside for Jeff Skemp. They reversed the ball and allowed him to seal, as opposed to simply making him work to get open all of the time.

Curt Hanson has moved back to Deerfield, IL not far from me and he's coaching high school basketball here. I saw them play this morning while my kids were at their swim lessons... and considerably smaller inside players were getting open with these types of sets. It's VERY hard to guard if you've got a team who can reverse the ball quickly, and Byrne, not being the most nimble bloke in the world, could definitely benefit from this.  Just don't do it against Stevens Point  :D

Greek Tragedy

Shocker in Canada as Superior knocks off Whitewater 69-66.

Looking at the boxscore and play by play, Whitewater had several opportunities to take the lead or tie the game.

They were down 9 with 3:42 to go. Down 2 with 1:08 left.  Whitewater got a TO and a chance to tie by Peterson blocks Evans' shot with about :44 left. Brooks turns the ball over for Superior and then fouls Young with :06 left.  Young misses the first FT and makes the 2nd.  Peterson makes two FTs after being fouled right away and Harris misses a 3 at the buzzer to tie it.

Peterson leads Superior with 20 and 7.  Byrne and Bauer add 16 and 15 each.  Knoble has 21 and Young with 11 on only 4-12 FGs.  Superior has 22 TOs to Whitewater's 14, but Superior outrebounds the Warhawks 32-23.

JG--Let's hear it for your memory! Today's 52 % was only Superior's fourth best this season:  54% vs. Lax, 56% vs. St. Olaf, 57% vs. EC. But don't worry! Mine's worse!

Ah, but I didn't look at the stats for those games... so my memory DOES serve correctly!

I'm thinking back to historical Superior games... like in 03-04, when Sup swept Point. But even looking at those now, Superior shot better in those games than I had remembered... so:
