30 minutes into the Pointer Hoops Radio Show and still no mention of Tillema...I hope one of the people attending at the Hilltop ask the question about his return.

"Half way point" meaning the 12th game of a 25 game scheduleis the cutoff. 9th of 12 gamea. So if he plays the 13th game of the season, no matter what number of games he played, he would lose eligibility. Right?

That is how I would interpret it.

Regarding Tillema:  Has been rehabbing extremely hard since the injury, he still has not went through a practice since the WW game...he's been doing conditioning(riding the bike, etc.)  The coaches haven't even thought about a medical redshirt as an option for Tyler.  They expect him back.  He still has some pain but once he gets to about 85-90 percent, he will play...they just feel he isn't there yet.

Forsythe:  Definitely taking a medical redshirt this year, will be a sophomore next year.  Semling thinks it will really benefit both Tyler and the program to have Forsythe for a 5th year.

Another interesting tidbit:  While at the Point game against La Crosse last wkd, it didn't even don on me that Robert DeMyers was not on the bench.  Someone asked a question about him tonight, Semling wasn't comfortable answering what's going on with Rob but they will release a statement in the next few days.  My guess is that he must have left the program.

Re:  DeMeyers, the radio guys noticed he wasn't on the bench and perhaps want on the roster any more either A couple of games ago. No other info than that, but it was mentioned in one of the broadcasts (just the observation).

Guidelines for Medical Hardship Waiver Requests

For a student-athlete to receive a Medical Hardship Waiver per Bylaw 14.2.4, the following four conditions must be met:

1. The student-athlete may not have participated in more than [edited] one-third of the team's completed contests/dates of competition.
2. The injury or illness must occur prior to the completion of the first half of the season.
3. The injury or illness does not have to occur during practice/competition, but it must be incapacitating.
4. Appropriate medical documentation must exist and be provided.

Also note, that Medical Hardship Waivers are applied for at the END of the season. So there's no need to declare anything while the season is in progress.

For the full, detailed rule out of the NCAA Manual follow the link and go to Page 95, Rule 14.2.5 - Hardship Waiver: http://www.ncaapublications.com/productdownloads/D313.pdf
Platteville's Cory Vaassen a promissing freshman from Cuba City season ended after he got hurt after playing one minute in the Stout game which was Platteville's 9th game (10th if you count the exhibition) which is one third of the season so if the one third rule stands he has no chance for a medical redshirt?

Just Bill

palum,

Since an exhibition game doesn't count in the team's 25-game maximum allowable contests, I would say it doesn't count against Vaassen's season total. Therefore he has played in 9 games.

The formula is (Maximum allowable contests + 1) * 1/3 (rounded up to next whole number), so

(25 + 1) * 1/3 = 8.67, rounded up is 9.

So at nine games, he is eligible for a medical hardship waiver, assuming he meets all other criteria.

Don't take my word as the Gospel truth, but I believe this is the correct calculation and interpretation.

Holy Chris Hortman for Stout tonight. 21 points, 13 board and 5-of-8 from deep as Blue Devils beat La Crosse tonight. Huge win for Stout.

If Hortman can continue to play like that (and that is a very big if) Stout is very dangerous.

Not to be outdone, Trevor Hass hits 5/6 from 3 for 21 with 3 boards and 3 assists and 2 steals for Stevens Point.
