Oshkosh vs Eau Claire PPD for tonight due to the weather.  Game will be played tomorrow.

Thanks for the update, wonder if any other games will be called off as well.

Point to Platteville is a haul too... and they're taking a fan bus (or at least were planning it before) to leave at 3:00, I think? 3:30?  They'd better decide soon!

Nothing else as of yet...

The only thing worse than Point's first half tonight are the camera angles on Platteville's live stream.  Are you kidding me??  They consistently change angles so you can only see half the court and lose the ball way too often.  There were a few times where they used in angle behind the baseline of one of the hoops when the ball was on the other side of the court.

Anyways, the only person worth a crap tonight for Point has been Hass.  Heuer, you've been pathetic tonight.  Not only haven't you hit open layups but when we have a chance to take the last shot of the half after an offensive rebound you take a contested runner.  PLAY SMARTER!!  Ritchay, you've played some solid defensive possessions but you've been awful offensively.  Gio, you're suppose to be a shooter.  If you aren't hitting wide open shots, then you need to be on the bench because you're a defensive liability, especially against a big team like Platteville.

Semling better rally the troops or it's a long road trip back to Point thinking about how awful you played.  17-13 Platteville at half....ugly

I don't know how Heuer was a D1 scholarship player, but I see how he's a D3 player now.  He's slow, unathletic and about the weakest 6'8" guy I have seen.  Point has nobody who can consistently go grab some rebounds.  When you can't rebound, you have to hit shots, they didn't tonight.

My midweek blog where I discuss things that frustrate me with post play, as well as debuting by "Picks to Click" in the 5 Worth the Price of Admission section and much, much more http://diiihoopsblog.blogspot.com/2013/01/midweek-blog-10-airing-of-grievances.html

As far as Point and Platteville go, I think that while a disappointing effort, it was bound to happen. There shouldn't be any overreacting for a team on a tough road trip and hadn't really played a bad game in the conference season.

These games are bound to happen somewhere along the line. Better now than when it really counts.

Very true, I knew that the two road trips this week would be difficult wins.  It's just disappointing that Point never even gave themselves a chance tonight.

I think the telling fact will be how they respond against La Crosse, a team that is reeling. If they lay a stinker there then maybe there are some bigger issues but I can't see that happening, nor Semling putting up with that

It's "of whom", and I'm a fan of good basketball.  I graduated from Platteville but their offensive play frustrates me so much that I can barely watch them play.  I thought Point should have sped up their play especially in the last ten minutes but Platteville's defense/rebounding overcame its own offensive woes to hold on for the win.  My "magic" number for a lead in college is nine points.  Stay nine and above for most of the game (as Platteville did for most of the second half) and you're golden.  Under nine and with the three point shot, a team can "steal" a game up to the last minute.  Point had several threes late that I thought might carry them but the Platteville lead was just too much.  Also, twenty more free throw attempts by Platteville was the obvious killer for Point.

That's what this board is missing, the grammar police.

Point has always played a slower, methodical pace under Semling where it values the basketball and getting good looks each possession.  Point isn't ever going to speed it up unless the other team is dictating the pace.  I'll concede to Semling on style of play, pretty sure he knows plenty.

Point didn't hit shots, didn't rebound and Heuer was dreadful...and that is more than enough to lose your first game in conference.  I'm still extremely confident knowing that playing in Quandt during the conference tournament with a bid on the line is another animal.

WARHAWKS: 71
LaCrosse: 63

Once again the WARHAWKS Luke Knoble got the scoring going with a layup and the two teams exchanged leads for the first three and half minutes.  Alex Merg's jumper gave the WARHAWKS an 8-7 lead that would not exceed three points and lead to three ties over the next seven minutes of the game.  With the score tied 18-18 Bradon Tice hit a jumper to put the Eagles on top but the WARHAWKS responded and after a second tie took a lead they would hold until the first of three consecutive three-pointers put the Eagles back in the lead and the half ended with the score 36-29.  It was a see-saw first half which saw seven lead changes and eight ties.  Both teams shot well (WW: 57%, LX: 58%) but the Eagles drained 6 of 10 three-pointers while the WARHAWKS sank only 1 of 6 attempts.  The Eagles also had 10-6 scoring edge in points off of 9 WARHAWKS turnovers though the WARHAWKS hung in the game by dominating in the paint 20-6.  LaCrosse maintained their lead, which reached a high of nine points 42-33, for the first six and half minutes of the second half until a basket by Knoble, a three-pointer and a pair of free throws by Merg gave the WARHAWKS their first lead of the half 45-44.  The WARHAWKS built the lead to four points however the Eagles came back to reclaim it 49-48.  A free throw by Quardell Young retied the game 51-51 at the eight and half minute mark but once again the Eagles went out in front and led until Merg's free throws put the WARHAWKS ahead 57-56 with six minutes left in the game.  The Eagles would get to within three points but a basket by Knoble and 4-4 from the charity stripe by Merg down the stretch kept them at bay.

The WARHAWKS finished the game 56% from the floor and turned up the defense three notches holding the Eagles to 36% in the second half and 2 of 7 from beyond the arc.  The WARHAWKS also held a significant advantage on the boards out rebounding the Eagles 33-18 and out scoring them 32-10 in the paint.  The game included 11 ties and 10 lead changes.

Merg's 24 points (6-7 from the field, 3-3 three-pointers and 9-10 free throws) led the WARHAWKS and both he and Young had a game high 3 assists.  Knoble added 11 points and Eric Bryson 10 points to round out double figure scorers.  Darnell Harris's 12 rebounds were a game high as were KJ Evans pair of steals.

Lucas Collum led the Eagles with 18 points while Jeff Heiden added 13 and Tice chipped in with 12.

You shoulda' been there in person. Worst showing by Point that I can remember....ever.  Platteville played good D but Point spent much of the game going through the motions of playing basketball. Last week in his post game radio Semling stated that the team played to win instead of playing not to lose, this game was just the opposite. Numerous possessions by Point resulted in last second one-on-one moves to get a poor shot. Way too much standing around. Heuer was horrible last night, as Cross either pushed him around or drove by him seemingly at will. He is a finesse player plain and simple, and is not strong at all. Referees were absolutely horrible, almost as bad as the Point effort. They missed a shot clock violation in the first half when the clock keeper reset on a short airball and all the ref could do was shrug. Phantom foul calls and fouls that were easy calls (both ways) were missed. A couple of possession calls missed were atrocious as well. The refs were not responsible for lack of rebounding effort by Point though. P-ville had 2 assists and 18 TO's, normally a recipe for disaster in most games, but they fought for rebounds and played great interior defense and deserved to win more than Point. Hopefully Point puts this stinker behind them quickly for the trip to La Crosse Saturday.

I'll concede the G.P. point.  And I don't disagree with your analysis of the the FG/FT shooting and rebounding discrepancies.  I just thought that for Point to get back in the game with 7-8 minutes to play, they needed to show a greater sense of urgency.  I figured the game might come back to them late if they could have closed the gap earlier pressing Platteville's guards and keeping Cross out high.
