As much as the loss of Tillema may have hurt last week, the loss of Ryf may have hurt just as much on Saturday.  He has been steady as the PG this season and has made great strides in his second season.

Any chance he goes from being in a boot Saturday to playing Wednesday?  I am guessing no, as if he sits Wednesday, he gets an entire week off with missing just one game since Point has the "bye" on Saturday.

There's an article in Stevens point journal today about Tillema.  Basically he's 70 percent right now and will make decision in next two weeks.  Trainers telling him he won't be pain free for a few months more than likely.  He's eligible for medical redshirt my opinion is take it and play next year.  Point loses giordana only so I would think their odds are better for long run next year.  They need another big guy to play along side Heuer.

It's not something that anyone can "choose." It has to be applied for to the NCAA, and this is done after the season is done.

I guess the application process can be done prior to the end of the season then...

I thought he was 70% two weeks ago! LOL

If he's waiting two weeks, the regular season is already over. That leaves the conference tourney and the NCAA tourney. Assuming Point makes both, there could be just two games for him if they lose in the 1st round of both.

I couldn't read the article without a subscription, but I'm guessing he's made a decision already.

I don't think it's right to overthink the statement "he's eligible for medical redshirt."

All that means, as we've discussed, is the fact that he hasn't already played too many games.

The paperwork, etc, is filed after the season is complete... it wouldn't make any sense for it to be filed until the season is done, because that might give them appearance that one could appeal for an additional year early on in the year... then play later after a ruling came down. That's just not how it works though.

It's like a deja vu again!

I think this time UWM actually pulls the trigger on Paul. I believe many Panthers wanted him last time, but they were afraid of the sitgma of a D-I hiring "a D-III guy". Now after two false starts, I don't think they care what others think. They just want the best guy.

My guess is not likely, at least not soon. I think they will focus on getting their core sports of basketball, soccer and baseball healthier before they entertain that thought.

If that was the case, John, I'm sure they would have a stipulation in there to say if they were to play before the end of the season, their medical redshirt would void. Thats common sense.

Does anyone know the specific diagnosis of Tillemas injury was? Sprained ankle (High or low)? Ligament or tendon damage? Broken bones?

I know it is a big decision financially and all, as GT has said previously, but I hope he does get (and take) a medical redshirt to end his career in the way he deserves.

Milwaukee would be insane to add football.  Its very expensive, and hard to make money at below the BCS level.

But for tuition-driven schools, it brings in a LOT of paying customers (especially if, like many schools these days, you have a shortage of male students).

Absolutely that's common sense.

Unfortunately, some people lack it.

Either way, a medical hardship waiver isn't applied for until the end of the season, whether it *could* be applied for earlier or not. Maybe you can send in the request... but it won't be approved until after the season is over.

The tuition drive argument though works a lot better at Division III, where EVERYONE on the roster is a paying customer, instead of having 55+ scholarship players which cost money. Sure you can play non-scholarship FCS, but why bother starting a football team that will never contend for anything?
