Unfortunately I would have to agree with you. Although there is always that little bit of hope that they get in by a thread, or maybe justa glitch in the system  ;D

Speaking of threads, check out the Pool C thread.  Titan Q has them out of the Pool C contention.  You'll learn a lot over there.

Cue up the Jeopardy theme song as the waiting begins for the Pointers and perhaps the Blue Devils, as we await the outcome of the UWP vs. UWW game, and the rest of the D3 teams to sort things out...

Stevens Point is a Pool C lock.  With the new tourney setup this year, Point could still host a 1st round game too, IMO.  I think Stout is out.

Great to see you last night, Voice.  Thanks for the hospitality.  You guys at WW, including Badgerwarhawk always make our trip there a good experience for the radio guys. (except for the final scores, of course).   Remember guys at the beginning of the season we were discussing how lazy, selfish, undisciplined, and over rated Harris was?  Too bad he isn't any of those things because if he were, Stout would be playing for a championship tomorrow night at our place.

Thanks for the name-drop Stoutguy! Great win for UWW over a very good Stout team.  The Hawks win it in the final two minutes. A key to Whitewater's season has been to win the close games late.

I thought the Young/Olson point guard match-up was outstanding. The difference in the game was Young's ability to get the ball to the hoop.

You were rough on Darnell Harris following UWW's win at Stout early in the season.  I think he showed you last night how much he has progressed during the season.

Stout did everything but win last night.  Too bad they'll probably fall just short of getting a Pool C tournament berth.  They had an outstanding season!

Always a pleasure SG.  Good to see you again.  It's been a while.  Regardless of what happens Monday Stout's staff, players and supporters have every reason to be proud of what they've accomplished this year.  I don't think anyone outside the program saw that coming.  Though they may fall short of the NCAA postseason the program made a huge stride forward this year.

WARHAWKS: 64
Stout: 59

Eric Bryson got the WARHAWKS started hitting a three pointer to open the scoring.  Quardell Young added a jumper, Darnell Harris a three-pointer and Luke Knoble a layup as the WARHAWKS jumped out to a 10-0 lead in the first four and half minutes.   Josh Koloske's layup got Stout on the board and they cut the deficit in half with a five point run.  The WARHAWKS answered with a 5-0 run of their own to go back up by double figures.  The lWARHAWKS lead would reach a first half high of twelve points when Knoble made a free throw with eight and half minutes to play.  Over the last eight and half minutes the WARHAWKS would by twelve two more times until Stout reduced it to single digits at the three minute mark and to a low of five points with a minute remaining before the half ended with the WARHAWKS up eight 30-22.  The WARHAWKS shot 44% from the floor including 4-9 from beyond the arc and had 7 assists on 11 baskets.  Stout shot 38% and made 2 of 5 three-pointers.  The WARHAWKS also held the advantage 4 to 2 from the free throw line. Bryson led all scorers going 4-8 from the floor (2-5 3pt) for 10 points.  Alex Oman and Kosloske each had 8 points to lead Stout.  Stout seemed out of sink in the first half and I thought we'd missed an opportunity to open a much larger lead.  The WARHAWKS scored the first five points of the second half reaching a game high lead of thirteen 35-22 in the first two minutes.  The lead remained in double figures until Koloske made a pair of free throws at the fourteen minute mark to make the score 40-31.  The WARHAWKS were able to get the lead back into double figures a couple of times but Stout kept hanging around and at the ten minute mark got back within single digits 47-38 with a lot of momentum.    Over the next six minutes Stout would cut into the lead reducing it to a single point as the WARHAWKS struggled shooting.   Chris Hortman's jumper with four and half minutes left tied the game 51-51 for the first time.  Knoble answered with a layup but Hortman scored again and it was tied a second time.  A pair of free throws from Harris put the WARHAWKS back on top and his steal led to a huge basket when Bryson converted it into a three-pointer to make the lead five 58-53.  Stout would get to within a single point again 58-57 on a pair of free throws from Hortman with under a minute remaining when Harris drilled a three-pointer and after that the WARHAWKS answered another Hortman basket by going 3-4 from the free throw line.

Four WARHAWKS finished double figures led by Young's game high 16.  Bryson added 14, Knoble 12 and Harris 11.  Harris and KJ Evans led the way on the boards with 6 apiece.  Young had a game high 6 assists.

Hortman scored 11 points in the last four and half minutes of the game to lead Stout with 15.  Alex Oman finished with 14 and Koloske chipped in 10.  Oman and Hortman each had a game high 7 rebounds and Hortman had a game high 3 steals.

Why I think Eddie Andrist will be the coach of the year.  One reason and it's really simple.  He hasn't won it and this is his opportunity.  Semling has won it twice in the recent past (2006-07, 2008-09).  Not to take anything away from what Semling has accomplished this year dealing with injuries and winning the conference championship.  However everyone knew Point would be good and overcoming injuries is part of the game.  Stout on the other hand was the opposite.  No one really thought that they would be as competitive as they have been.  Again, I don't mean to take anything away from Semling  He is every bit deserving and it won't surprise me at all if he is named.  I just think that this is Eddie's year.  We should know pretty soon.

Absolutely, Badgerwarhawk.  As usual, you are right.  You know, you are not just a good bowler.  You are also really, really smart.

Honestly, I think two or three years ago was Eddie's year and either Semling or Miller won it. Stout didn't make the tournament (lost to... Platteville? in the tournament) but they were HOT. They beat Point and WW in back to back games when they were both in the top 10.

WARHAWKS: 66
Platteville: 55

The Pioneers opened the scoring with one of two free throws from Jake Manning.  Jim Stocki added a Pioneer basket before Alex Merg got the WARHAWKS on the board with a layup.  Neither team was shooting that well and over the next four to five minutes the Pioneer lead fluctuated between one and three points.  Chas Cross's layup which was followed by his three-pointer stretched the Pioneer lead to six, 10-4, with just under five minutes remaining.  The two teams traded three-pointers and the Pioneer's maintained at least a four point lead until Stocki scored five straight points and the Pioneers lead reached its high of nine points, 22-13, with a little under five minutes to the half.  The WARHAWKS cut their deficit to three points 22-19 when KJ Evans scored after the stealing the in bounds pass but the Pioneers got four straight points from Rob Stallion to go back up by seven before Patrick Souter recovered a blocked shot and connected on a jumper making the score 26-21 when the half time buzzer sounded.

It was a frustrating half for the WARHAWKS who shot 31% from the floor scoring just 8 baskets on 26 attempts.  I lost count of how many shots rolled around, fell off the lip or were half way down and spun out.  Fortunately the Pioneers weren't shooting a whole lot better at 40%, scored 10 baskets and held only a 3-2 advantage from beyond the arc.  Seven WARHAWKS turnovers led to a 9-3 scoring advantage for the Pioneers though a 20-14 (7-3 on the offensive end) WARHAWKS rebounding advantage led to a 8-1 advantage in second chance points.  Eric Bryson led the WARHAWKS with 7 points while Stocki led the Poineers with 7 points.  Darnell Harris pulled down 7 rebounds.

Harris' old fashioned three point play opened the second half.  His free throw a minute later pulled the WARHAWKS to within a point and Luke Knoble's layup following that created their first lead of the game 26-25.  Over the next three minutes the two teams traded baskets and the lead four times when leading by one Patrick Souter sank a three-pointer which was followed by back to back three-pointers from Harris and the WARHAWKS had their first double digit lead 40-30 with a little over twelve minutes to go.  Platteville cut the deficit to single digits and reduced it to five points, 43-38, in the seventh minute but Eric Bryson's three-pointer created the second double digit lead 51-41 with four and half minutes left.  The Pioneers would get to within six points but the WARHAWKS went 12-14 from the free throw line over the last two and half minutes of the game.

The WARHAWKS shot 52% in the second half and had just two turnovers.  Harris led the way with a game high 20 points and rounded out a double-double with 10 boards.  Bryson added 17 points and Souter finished with 10.

Platteville was led by Stocki who scored 13 points while Eric Gerber added 10.  Cross had a game high 13 rebounds, all defensive, though he was held to 9 points.

It was a great atmosphere.  A large, loud crowd for both teams.

It was also a pleasure to meet palum.
