Interesting to see Chris Otule of Marquette apply for a medical redshirt. In 2008-2009 and 2011-2012, he played a total of 11 games. Why didn't he applied after one of those two seasons? Is there is an advantage or disadvantage in applying now instead of before?
Athletes can apply for a 6th year waiver at any time but typically they do so only after completing their eligibility.  There are no specific written rules by the NCAA on granting waivers for a 6th year but there is a lot of precedence which people typically use to determine likelihood of the waiver being granted.

Part of the decision to wait may have been with Otule deciding whether he wanted to play another year or not!

I see that Paul Jesperson of Merrill is leaving Tony Bennett's U of Virginia team to transfer to another school anyone know where?? Nice to have him come back to the state there are 4 D1 programs that could use help.  From Virginia's website:

Bo Ryan spent time recruiting Jesperson so maybe he'll become a BADGER

I know this is a WIAC board but since BW mentioned the Badgers, what's Bo going to do with 4 PGs next year?  The LAX kid will red shirt?

I think Gasser slides back over to a 2-guard spot.  Never thought he really was a true-PG in the sense of how we look at PGs.

I am not sure if you are counting Zac Showalter as a PG or not ... but if you are he slides down the depth chart and will be lucky to see any meaningful minutes next year.

Koenig will play, he may not be the starter but I'm not sure barring injury that there will be any way you keep him from not playing next year.

Didn't even consider Showalter - you've got Gasser, Jackson, Marshall and Koenig.  If Gasser slides to the 2, that leaves Brust to come off the bench?

Jesperson is an athlete who played meaningful minutes and started at times for an ACC conference school.  He's not a D3 player.

Wisconsin is out of scholarships so i don't see him going there.

Jesperson has his redshirt available so he might go to an Iowa or Iowa State, Minnesota with a new coach might love to get a player like him.  I would have said UWGB given the proximity to home but Wardle's problems may prevent that from being a smart choice right now.

I didn't say that Gasser would start ... he might be better coming off the bench.  In fact regardless of whether he's a PG or SG or SF ... I don't think Gasser starts next year.

Given UWs lack of experienced big men ... UW may end up going to a 3-guard lineup next year.

Jackson (PG), Gasser (SG), Burst (SG), Dekker (SF) and Kaminsky (C)
Koenig redshirts
Will Evan Anderson play?  I'm afraid he's another Eno Hendrickson.

Yes, I know you have to be at least 100 years old to know who Eno Hendrickson was.  He was a 7 footer out of Holmen, Wi.  Huge hype in high school and when he was recruited by the BADGERS but he ended up a dismal failure.  Unfortunately the team was so bad in those days that he had to play.  I can remember as a small kid being so excited that he was coming to Madison.  I thought he would put us in the national championship game hands down.

Koenig will not redshirt....most freshman don't play for Bo because of the defensive side of the ball, Koenig is the most advanced defensive player Bo has ever had as a freshman.  That alone with get him on the court.  I think he has a good chance to start, he's a better PG than Jackson is now.

badgerwarhawk

Jackson will be the starting PG next year whether Koenig redshirts or not.  I think they'll redshirt him because both Jackson and Marshall will play ahead of him and will be limiting his minutes.  He has a better shot at playing the #2 or #3 position next year and he won't start ahead of either Gasser or Burst.   JMO, I guess time will tell.

Wow...I remember Hendrickson.  ;D I think the correct spelling on his first name was Eino.  That had to be in late 60s in the same era of the Monroe recruits of Keith Burrington and Tom Mitchell.  Eino was never healthy if I remember correctly and played less every year of his career at UW.

Disagree completely...I doubt Koenig is heading to Wisconsin if they were planning on redshirting him.

Brandeis started a kid at point guard who fit that description at Boston College.
