I think you have to have a certain number of posts before you can utilize the feature.

Seeing as AppletonRocks is just another name for a previously deposed poster, he certainly knows this.

Remember that this system has been here for seven years. That's a long time to accumulate pluses and minuses for regular posters.

Point has a tough outing coming up at Platteville Wednesday night. Point seems to have lost it's shooting eye from beyond the arc. In their first eight games they were shooting lights out at 53% (71-135). The last eight games they are only 32% (38-118).  They are getting good looks, but the shot is just not falling right now.

After tying the school scoring record with 40 points against Whitworth, Trevor Hass was at 56% (36-64) from trey land, but since then only 27% on 10-37.  He was stretching his back out during the last game and it looks like there was a problem area, so maybe he's not 100%.

Tyler Tillema was hounded and double teamed often against River Falls and wasn't able to drive to the basket as well as in other games, and his outside shot just wasn't falling. I don't think he likes the mask he's wearing (who would??).

Joe Ritchay had his best game of the season, finishing well on his drives and was a demon on the boards.

Clayton Heuer is in the best stretch of the season for him in  the last three games, averaging over 5 rebs and 13 ppg. He's never played well in three games against Chas Cross of Platteville. He's averaging 7 pts, 4 reb and 1 bpg while Cross has feasted to the tune of 19/8/2 against Heuer/Point last year. Clayton looks like he's playing with more passion lately and I hope that continues.

Greek Tragedy

I had read here before that Tillema was wearing his Bane mask, but never actually heard why he was.

The game against Platteville worries me a lot. They obviously have Cross, but their guards are aolid as well. Its comforting to see (read) that Heuer is playing better recently and that the likes of Ritchay, Heuer and Richard can help in the scoring department. I'm not too concerned with Hass and Tillema yet, they were never going to keep up with that early season pace.

I think tomorrow's game will end in the 50s.

SP Pointer

The Pointers have two very tough road games this week at Platteville & LaCrosse.  I have been to every home game this year and they have been struggling offensively for a period of games.  Coach Semling said after the River Falls game they have not been in a good offensive flow with all players on the court at the same time. They are working thru it.  The good thing as he stated is that it has made them concentrate and put more emphasis on the defensive end during this stretch. This will be a plus for the defense as the season continues. It's great to win when your two top scorers (Tillema & Haas) have off nights.  Heuer & Ritchay played very well against River Falls who came in and played a very solid game.

Will be a battle down to the last WIAC game.

Looking forward to the Pointer basketball spaghetti supper next Monday night.

The unconfirmed word in the stands is that he took an elbow to his nose in practice.

stoutfan1

A couple big games this week as Whitewater heads to LAX and Point takes the trip to Platteville. Stout gets to stay in the middle of the pack with a bye and the rest of the WIAC tries to get into better position for that 6th and final playoff spot. This is the kind of week that you find out who the real teams are.

LAX have lost a couple tight ones and what a better rebound opportunity than a scorching Whitewater team. Platteville has shown that they can take care of business against the "lower" WIAC teams and now get a chance at home against a "struggling" Point team. We'll see if these games are going to be close or if it's going to be a 2 team race down the stretch.

Had no idea Gleich was still showing up for practice. Your career is OVER, John! Just go home!

The league got together and decided that he needed to increase the level of difficulty for him.

John's ego took a major hit when he tore up his knee when he was running practice against his little grade school team he coaches. Even John has enough self-respect not to retaliate against kids my size, so he had to show up for a Pointer practice and volunteer to be Chas Cross for a day.

#15131
STEVENS POINT 16-0, 7-0
WON vs Oshkosh 58-30
WON vs River Falls 65-48

Point cruised to an easy victory over the visiting Titans. The hosts held a 30-17 halftime lead and allowed Oshkosh to score just 13 2nd half points. Tillema lead the way for the Dawgs with 20 points, 7 boards and 4 dimes. Joe Ritchay chipped in with 9 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Against the Falcons, Point entered halftime with another 13-point lead (40-27) and, again, cruised to victory. Ritchay recorded his first career double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds while Clayton Heuer had another solid game with 14 and 5. Tillema and Hass were held in check, combining for just 6-22 shooting.

Wed. at Platteville
Sat. at La Crosse

Biggest week for Pointer basketball as they travel to Platteville and La Crosse. The Pointers lost both games on the road last year.

PLATTEVILLE 11-5, 6-1
LOST at Whitewater 77-58
WON vs La Crosse 80-79

The first big conference test for the Pioneers didn't start or end well. Platteville scored just 18 first-half points. Chas Cross lead the way with 19 points and 6 rebounds, while Jake Manning added 11 and 8. Gerber and Johnson were just 9-24 from the field. The Pioneers returned home and bounced back nicely against La Crosse. Cross was huge, scoring 33 points and blocking 3 shots. Gerber had 18 points while Stocki scored 10 and grabbed 11 rebounds.

Wed. vs Stevens Point
Sat. vs Superior

Platteville has a chance to get back into the conference race when they host undefeated and league leading Stevens Point on Wednesday before Superior comes in for a visit this weekend.

WHITEWATER 14-2, 5-2
WON vs Platteville 77-58
WON vs Superior 97-52

To say Whitewater has been on a roll is an understatement. They've been blowing out everyone including Platteville. The Pioneers looked like a conference pretender rather than contender. 3 players did most of the damage for the Warhawks. Reggie Hearn had 16 and 3, KJ Evans had 11 and 6, and Quardell Young had 14 points and 5 assists. After leading by 13 at halftime, Whitewater outscored Superior by 26 in the 2nd half over the weekend. KJ Evans scored 19 points and grabs 9 rebounds to lead the way. Reggie Hearn scored 11 and also grabbed 12 boards.

Wed. at La Crosse
Sat. at River Falls

Whitewater will try to continue their current roll as they head out on the road. 1st is a trip to La Crosse, looking to rebound after their loss to Platteville. Then, the Warhawks head to River Falls.

LA CROSSE 10-6, 4-3
LOST at Stout 59-57
LOST at Platteville 80-79

Tough week for the Eagles as they drop two nail biters on the road. La Crosse lead by 4 at halftime but couldn't hold off the host Blue Devils. Stout hit a game-winning 3 in the dying seconds. La Crosse was lead by Lucas Collom with 17 points and 7 rebounds to go along with 3 assists, while Braden Tice had 15 and 4. Against the Pioneers, the Eagles erased a 7-point halftime deficit but couldn't get over the hump. Cross hit a late jumper to put Platteville ahead, but Tice's late shot was off the mark.

Wed. vs Whitewater
Sat. vs Stevens Point

The Eagles are looking for some home cooking against two of the top three teams in the conference. The red hot Warhawks come into town before La Crosse hosts the Pointers on the weekend.

STOUT 9-7, 4-4
WON vs La Crosse 59-57
LOST at Oshkosh 63-59

Stout pulled out a thriller after two tough losses the previous week. La Crosse came in with only one conference loss and Stout showed their mettle. Oman lead the way again with 17 and 7, while Jay Higgins chipped in with 11 and 6. Dr. Jekyll turned into Mr. Hyde in Oshkosh and not in a good way. After beating one of the better teams (La Crosse), Stout stubbed their own toe by dropping one in Oshkosh. Stout scored just 21 points in the 1st half. Nine of the 10 players that saw minutes scored, but only Wadzinski scored in double digits (11) in the disappointing loss.

Wed. at Ashford
Sat. at Eau Claire

Stout gets a rare mid-season nonconference game as they travel to Ashford before they head to Eau Claire this weekend.

SUPERIOR 5-11, 2-5
WON at Eau Claire 75-68
LOST at Whitewater 97-52

They Yellowjackets got a nice road win at Eau Claire with a balanced attack. 5 players scored in double-figures for the winners. Schradel has come on strong and lead Superior with 16 points, 7 rebounds and 5 steals. Peterson, Lindblom, Corry and Burch chipped in with 18, 13, 10 and 10, respectively. Byrne added 8 points, 10 rebounds and 3 blocks. Their trip to Whitewater wasn't quite successful as the Warhawks dismantled the visitors. Superior shot under 31% for the game and was outscored by 26 in the 2nd half. Peterson lead the way with 19 points and 5 rebounds. Byrne was shutout, but added 5 rebounds and 5 blocks.

Wed. at River Falls
Sat. at Platteville

The 5-game conference road trip continues with a trip to River Falls before the 'Jackets go way south to Platteville.

OSHKOSH 6-9, 2-5
LOST at Stevens Point 58-30
WON vs Stout 63-59

The Titans took one on the chin at Quandt as they were completely overmatched against Stevens Point. They shot just under 24% and scored 30 points. Not surprisingly, no one scored in double-digits with AJ Mueller leading the "attack" with 8 points and 5 rebounds. Royston had 5 points and 8 boards. Fortunes changed at home as Oshkosh pulled off an upset of visiting Stout. Royston, Schebel and Mueller all scored in double-digits as everyone seemed to have solid all-around performances. Royston had 15 points, 3 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals. Olson had 7 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists, and Schebel had 14 and 7.

Wed. vs Eau Claire
Sat. vs Maranatha Baptist

Oshkosh stays home for a couple of matchups this week. They host Eau Claire before nonconference opponent Maranatha Baptist comes into town.

EAU CLAIRE 8-8, 1-6
LOST vs Superior 75-68

Wed. at Oshkosh
Sat. vs Stout

RIVER FALLS 6-10, 1-6
LOST at Stevens Point 65-48

Wed. vs Superior
Sat. vs Whitewater

There were apparently other harder drugs besides weed per the Star Trib story.  It's a bit hard to predict how his basketball skills will translate to college.  At Hopkins he was on the floor with at least 3 other D-1 players, so he was just asked to run and finish.  He didn't have to take many jumpers and he rarely had to create shots for himself off the dribble.  If he's motivated, he can make plays.

Does he play defense? That tells a lot about a kid, especially a superior athlete.
