John tore up his knee when he was running practice against his little grade school team he coaches.

Just to set the record straight...

They're 7th and 8th graders and they're not all little. Medium, prehaps, but not little. Well, not all of them.

Tore up my knee is a bit dramatic (I did hurt myself whilst standing in for one of my point guards... I was trying to show him how I wanted him to attack a gap. Then the gap closed... right as I was entering it. I think the floor had a dent where I finally landed. I know both my knees did).

One discussion I've enjoyed from previous years is everyone's "1/2 way point" All Conference squad.

As we complete the first half tonight, hopefully some of the staunch WIAC followers will post their thoughts.  While there are some very obvious choices, picking a sure fire 10 member squad is difficult for me right now.  The balance of the season should clear it up.

Story in Minnesota Daily says Andre McDonald will transfer to Falcons to play both bb, fb. How good was he in bb? Was dropped from Gopher fb team for weed problem.
There were apparently other harder drugs besides weed per the Star Trib story.  It's a bit hard to predict how his basketball skills will translate to college.  At Hopkins he was on the floor with at least 3 other D-1 players, so he was just asked to run and finish.  He didn't have to take many jumpers and he rarely had to create shots for himself off the dribble.  If he's motivated, he can make plays.

Does he play defense? That tells a lot about a kid, especially a superior athlete.
He wasn't a lock-down defender when I saw him in high school, but his athleticism led to plenty of deflections.  I believe he had some type of injury his senior year, so I haven't really seen him play since 2011.  He was the rare Hopkins athlete who was primarily a proud football player.  The Lake Conference dominates the state in every sport, but they do so with different schools for different sports.  Edina in Hockey, Wayzata/Eden Prairie in Football, and Hopkins in Basketball.  McDonald went to Hopkins for the hoops but turned into one of the best receivers in the nation.  He's not going to set the WIAC on fire in Basketball.

Yeah, I will probably post mine after tonight's games. I miss the days when 8-12 posters would post their thoughts. I've always thought this was a "lurker" league with about a dozen actual posters. That's fine with me, but recently, I think our 1/2 way All Conference selections have been no more than 6 posters.

Pointers win by 15 at Platteville.  Surprised by the margin to say the least.  Played better on the offensive end tonight.  No second half turnovers.

Well whitewater goes from being dominant to losing at lacrosse just really goes to show how tough the Wiac is.  I think if stout were even remotely healthy that the wiacs has 5 teams in top 30 in country.
GOTTA LOVE ACT 10

LAX over WW by 5 - LAX scored 88 points, as WW pretty porous defensively.  Didn't guard the 3 point line at all, giving up 15 triples.  Hard a hard time keeping Trent Schmidt in front.

RF 92, Superior 79. Peterson had 33,  20 at half, Byrne a dozen or so. White had 25, Gresmer, 17; Erickson and Deppe 11. White may have had dbl/dbl--did not keep rbds.

Let me fix that for you...

They won this game on the defensive end. Yes, they did score too, but it was the stops that did it. Their ball pressure tonight bordered on amazing in my book. Platteville took a 45-40 lead and then didn't get an open look until they were down 10 with under 2 minutes left.

I should have said better offense compared to what they displayed last week.  Their defense was good tonight, as it has been very consistantly this year.  Their offense was out of sorts recently, especially last week.  They hit 45% from three tonight which was markedly improved from the last two weeks.  The Pointers played a variety of guys on Cross and he got his points, but he had to really work and it sounded like he was pretty gassed by the end tonight.  Half the job done for the week.  LaCrosse will be no picnic as Whitewater experienced tonight.

Agreed. Offense was more in sync tonight than it has been in a bit

I think you have to have a certain number of posts before you can utilize the feature.

Seeing as AppletonRocks is just another name for a previously deposed poster, he certainly knows this.

Remember that this system has been here for seven years. That's a long time to accumulate pluses and minuses for regular posters.
Was going to reply to his post from earlier today, but see it has since been deleted....

Let's just say he can't even keep his lies straight now.  First it was a buddy that used to post, and now a family member.  Next it will be his kid!!! :o

Stout: 69
Ashford: 71

Stout losses to an opponent they beat by 15 earlier in the season. I didn't get a chance to watch or even look at the live stats of the game, but the loss is not good. we are clearly going in the  wrong direction and other teams are going the right way. There was good news on the Wednesday night though...... Plattville and Whitewater both take losses in conference play which gives Stout the chance to "control their own destiny" in the upcoming second half of conference play. Hopefully we can get things back on track and get a couple wins in Eau Claire on Saturday and then at home Wednesday against. the Falcons.

Oman with 23 and Whitehead 21, Jenny 11. Higgins with 10 boards. Not much in the box score for anyone else.............
