7 games to play (for Osh and Sup, 6 with a bye for everyone else)

Still quite a bit of basketball left... but Point is one game away from locking up a place in the conference tournament. Everyone is still alive at this point... but it would take some miraculous efforts (and some unlikely results) to get there.

Then I got bored...

Nice article in the SPJ about Point's season thus far:

Great front page spot too:

My favorite part of the article...?

The two pictures of Tyler Tillema clearly show him shooting... with his right hand.

He says he's ambidextrous... guess that proves it!

Greek Tragedy

Nice to see the Point game last night. It wasn't the greatest game to watch, but there were a lot of positives.

Joe Ritchay stepped up (again) with 17 while Pelkofer did well while Tillema was on the bench with 2 fouls. Encouraging to see Point take a slim lead (25-22, thanks to a 3 by Pelkofer at the halftime buzzer) at the break with Tillema held scoreless. Though Heuer was just 1-8 in the first half, it was nice to see him involved in the Pointer offense.

Hass started out slow as well, but finished with solid numbers. 17 pts, 6 boards, 2 assists and 5 steals.

What was up with Jarrod Peterson not starting? He still played 25 minutes and was the leading scorer with 16 on 6-12 shooting and 7 rebounds (though he had 7 TOs as well).

Point shot under 40% but still won by 17, while holding Superior to 39% and forcing 22 TOs.

And I wasn't quite fast enough to get a pic of Greek Tragedy being harrassed by The Professor on his way into the gym. Was he asking you for an autograph??

Is it podcasted?

Dave 'd-mac' McHugh

It airs live... and records simultaneously. You can actually treat the show like a DVR while we are on the air (many people did this during our 12-hour-plus marathon on Thursday).

Also, when the show goes off the air, the archive is immediately available. Just use the link provided to tune in whenever you want.

Stout: 59
WARHAWKS: 70

The WARHAWKS opened the game with an 8-1 run as the Blue Devils were cold missing their first five shots and turning the ball over twice.  But once the Blue Devils got in gear they responded with a 13-2 run of their own taking a 14-11 lead at the 11:20 mark.  The two teams traded baskets for a while and then it was the WARHAWKS who made the next run, 19-3 over the next eight minutes, and extended to to 17 points 41-24 at the intermission.  KJ Evans led all scorers with 15 points and out rebounded everyone pulling down 6 boards.  The WARHAWKS shot 52% from the floor to the Blue Devils 40% and dominated the paint outscoring Stout 26-8.  Thirteen turnovers hurt the Blue Devils and led to them being outscored 15-8 off of them.  The Blue Devils shot better in the second half (55%) but so did the WARHAWKS (53%).  The Blue Devils were able to reduce the deficit to seven points on two occasions the last of which was with about five and half minutes remaining.  But an old fashioned three point play by Quardell Young followed by another Young layup put the lead back into double figures where with one exception it remained for the rest of the game.

Despite being the shorter of the two teams the WARHAWKS held a 40-20 scoring advantage in the paint.  Evans led the WARHAWKS with 19 points adding a game highs of 7 rebounds and 4 steals.  Young went 5 for 5 from the floor and ended with 11 points.  Eric Bryson also scored 11 points while Reggie Hearn finished with 10 points, 5 rebounds, a pair of assists and blocks and a steal.  Alex Merg came up a point short of double figures with 9 but contributed game highs with 4 assists and tying Evans with 4 steals.

Aaron Jenny led the Blue Devils with a game high 22 points.  He played well and was a difficult match up.

It was a very physical game.

At half time members of the 1984 and 1989 National Championship teams were honored and an alumni game played earlier in the afternoon had several past players present for the game.
