Nice to see the Point game last night. It wasn't the greatest game to watch, but there were a lot of positives.

Joe Ritchay stepped up (again) with 17 while Pelkofer did well while Tillema was on the bench with 2 fouls. Encouraging to see Point take a slim lead (25-22, thanks to a 3 by Pelkofer at the halftime buzzer) at the break with Tillema held scoreless. Though Heuer was just 1-8 in the first half, it was nice to see him involved in the Pointer offense.

Hass started out slow as well, but finished with solid numbers. 17 pts, 6 boards, 2 assists and 5 steals.

What was up with Jarrod Peterson not starting? He still played 25 minutes and was the leading scorer with 16 on 6-12 shooting and 7 rebounds (though he had 7 TOs as well).

Point shot under 40% but still won by 17, while holding Superior to 39% and forcing 22 TOs.

I've got to think that Peterson not starting was likely a situation where Superior just wanted to win the "points off the bench" stat.

Superior won that stat 24-15. Yay!!

Sup got fewer points off turnovers, points in the paint, and second chance points... so at least they could hang their hats on the bench points.

More road WIAC wins than 2 years ago.  Also more home WIAC wins.   They are headed in the right direction.   :)

Congrats to WARHAWKS center Reggie Hearn last week's WIAC player of the week.  Hearn shot 63% from the floor and played 73 minutes in the two games.   IMO he is probably the most improved WARHAWKS player of this season.

Honestly, I don't think so.

Whitewater has lost just 3 games all year. At Point (everybody else has lost to Point this season), at Stout (buzz saws at home, Point could have easily lost there as well), at La Crosse (on a night where LaX was simply ON).

Maybe #2 is high. But how high? The top 25 has Whitewater #7. After some defensive glitches early, they've been rock solid defensively.  They're giving up only 61.4 on the year (60.6 in the WIAC), second only to Point (59.8 and 56.3).

But they're also scoring 80.5 overall (77.4 in the WIAC). I know that margin of victory doesn't count for much... but WW has absolutely been domintating teams.

I think that UWW has the balance, depth, and all-around quality of play to make a deep run in the NCAA tournament this year.

If somebody can play a good zone, WW will have its hands full.  But nobody plays much of that anymore.

I heard he had surgery, but didn't hear why? Nothing too serious I hope. If someone can share info without violating anything personal it would be appreciated.
