Any word on who point is getting in besides incoming freshman?  I think they are going to need a few juco players if they want to maintain their regular top 10 in nation status.  I like some of the guys they return but don't feel their a top 25 team talent wise at this point but I guess who would after losing a big three like that?  I know zuiker can make an immediate impact but they will need some size.

The WARHAWKS have posted their 2014-15 schedule.  In addition to home/away games against conference foes the out of conference schedule includes home games with Cardinal Stritch, Kalamazoo and Monmouth (WHITEWATER tourney) and Beloit.  Away games include Hope, Bluffton, North Central, Augustana and Alma.

Monmouth is coached by former WARHAWKS assistant Todd Skrivseth.

Whitewater will lose 3 or less games this season and more than likely repeat.

Wanna bet??

We've got an awful lot of points, rebounds, minutes, etc. etc. to replace.  Repeating would be extremely difficult.

The tornado that damaged Platteville's campus also caused concern for the safety of children attending one of their basketball camps.  Fortunately Coach Gard knew what to do and none of them were injured.

With your best player returning and addition of stud d2 transfer I think whitewater could be better.  I'm very concerned about the pointers this year and found out this past weekend I'm not alone.

I'll bite on the prop bet. Make the o/u 4 and we have a deal. So 4 losses is a wash. They could easily end up with 4 or less losses, but that doesn't mean they will repeat. Augustana returns virtually everyone. I'm sure Williams willbe tough as nails despite losing their coach and I have no idea what kind of team IWU will have...not to mention the usual national contenders.

As for Point, I have no worries. We won the National Championship in 2005 and 2010, so naturally...it's ours to lose in 2015. LOL :-)

BTW, if you aren't keeping track, T-MINUS 3 months before Point's schedule is released!

I'm definitely not saying point will be bad but I just don't see even top 10 talent on the roster.  My big concern is the lack of transfers or recruits coming in they really need to land a guy that can make a huge impact immediately.  Pelkofer will certainly be the key next year if he can step up and be a consistent scorer I could see point taking 2nd in Wiac.

In 2013, Whitewater lost to North Central in the 2nd round of the national tournament. They then lost that year's D1 rental, and arguably their best player, Darnell Harris. Did that stop them from winning this year's championship? Heck no. So, while the odds are assuredly against a repeat, its certainly not an impossibility. I would think that if any school could do it, the Purple Machine would be the most likely candidate.
And, Shine Time, who certainly is more familiar with UWW than I, indicates last year's best player is returning AND they are adding a D2 transfer. I guess my initial reaction to that news is---What only a D2 transfer, not a D1?  ;)

By the way, with regard to the aforementioned Darnell Harris, next year will find him at the SEVENTH school he has been associated with since he left Milwaukee after his junior year of high school to attend one of the nation's infamous "prep" schools. Prep school in TX, Florida International, prep school in CA, Cleveland State, Whitewater, NW FL State, and Middle TN State next year. You know this guy just has to order the "sampler platter" every time he goes out to eat!  :)

Sports Illustrated is doing a series on who would be next in line to replace some of the more high profile Division One Basketball Coaches across the country.  The attached link deals with Bo Ryan, and a name thrown out there as a long-shot replacement might interest a few of you around here:

Pat Miller, Wisconsin-Whitewater head coach. Would Alvarez attempt to test the lightning-strikes-twice theory? Miller is 291-83 in 13 years as a head coach, and he was named the Division III coach of the year by the NABC this past season after leading Whitewater to the national title. Miller is certainly tough enough: He underwent surgery to relieve pressure on his spine in February -- and returned to the bench two weeks later. It's a long, long shot, and even Ryan had to put in those two years at the Division I level before getting the call from Wisconsin, but Miller is an intriguing candidate.
