That game was tied 15 all or 18 all or something like that. Whitewater went on a huge run, obviously.

Point and Oshkosh knotted at 24 at the break.

Idk. There have been good players. Koonkaew, Voltz, Manor, Guerin. I would question the numbers on some of those years. I guess I would look at it like who wouldn't want to play in a 63.5 million dollar facility. From worst facility to best. Only other wiac recently to compete with uwsp and uww. Yep I see them doing very well in years to come.

Not sure which numbers you're referring to with your question, but as someone who was there for most of the games from 2000-2015, I can assure you Karges has never been filled close to the level it was during the Melzer years.  The exception would be when RF hosted a first round NCAA game in 2012 (or was it 2011).  Teams have finished near the tip of the conference in some years but Melzer was the draw.  I'd be interested to hear if Fred Falcon agrees

There will be a lot more Warhawks fans on Saturday now I have a feeling.... A UWO win would pop at least one bubble for a team sweating out a bid.

The records I found only noted the conference tournament as separate link back to the 2002-03 season.  Today I noticed that previous seasons were included under the schedule/results link.  I'll update the numbers.

I thought it was weird that I couldn't find the year Stout (#8) beat the hell out of us (#1).  I remember being forced to record everyone of their stinkin' points on the scoreboard.

Ah, the good old days.  I'm glad you still remember that game, BadgerWarhawk.  It makes me wonder, again, why the commish can't figure out that instead of protecting the good guys (Point and WW) from these potential upsets, he should go back to an 8 team format and make money again.  This current format is a financial disaster and will be again this year.

Does the tourney actually make any money? I mean, with the costs of bussing teams and all. It seems some of the crowds are pretty minimal; I presume the schools get the concessions.

No, it does not.  That's my point.  It used to make money when 8 teams got in.  The highest seeds had to play right away.  That was a money maker.  I will say it again: the 6 team format is good for the good guys and bad for everybody else.

Back when I was closer to it, the tournament only made money if UWSP hosted the maximum number of games. Could be different now. I don't think money making should be a priority. I'd rather protect the best teams and give a few others a one-time shot. I think the format is fine.

I agree, it shouldn't be just about money.  I just think that playing a couple extra games, letting two more teams that have put in a ton of hard work get rewarded with a chance for that occasional upset wouldn't be all bad.  My bet is if you polled the coaches on this issue, only 2 coaches would disagree with me.  Any takers?

At least we aren't the MWC. They have 11 teams with a 4-team playoff. The UAA doesn't even run a tourney.

It's not feasible in the UAA due to their geography. You know that, Tom. ;)

I don't mind limited conference tournaments in D-III. If it's not going to be a money maker and at-large bids are at a premium nationwide, then I think it makes sense for conferences to limit the bracket. I don't buy the "they worked hard, let them play in the tournament" argument. Not everyone gets a ribbon.

Couldn't agree more.
