I don't mind limited conference tournaments in D-III. If it's not going to be a money maker and at-large bids are at a premium nationwide, then I think it makes sense for conferences to limit the bracket. I don't buy the "they worked hard, let them play in the tournament" argument. Not everyone gets a ribbon.

Couldn't agree more.

And I'm just saying nobody will get a ribbon if they decide to eliminate the tournament because it isn't making any money.  Having and extra full gym in Stevens Point isn't going to hurt anyone.

The records I found only noted the conference tournament as separate link back to the 2002-03 season.  Today I noticed that previous seasons were included under the schedule/results link.  I'll update the numbers.

I thought it was weird that I couldn't find the year Stout (#8) beat the hell out of us (#1).  I remember being forced to record everyone of their stinkin' points on the scoreboard.

Ah, the good old days.  I'm glad you still remember that game, BadgerWarhawk.  It makes me wonder, again, why the commish can't figure out that instead of protecting the good guys (Point and WW) from these potential upsets, he should go back to an 8 team format and make money again.  This current format is a financial disaster and will be again this year.

I also remember "take that WHITEWATER!"    LoL, I know you didn't say it but it still cracks me up to this day.  Good to see you back on the board SG.  Hope you'll make the trip down here again sometime.  I'll get you a free water.

Thinking about taking the jet over to Whitewater tomorrow.  Will tickets be available?  No one answers the phone at the chancellors office.  Must be on a football recruiting trip.

Maybe you're onto somethin! Perhaps they could go the way of the NBA: make them all best of seven series. Imagine how much money the WIAC could haul in?

I can't be certain, but I'm pretty confident that the tournament isn't in jeopardy. I'm not sure we need to worry about it going away.

Strangely, I've never had a problem getting a ticket to a basketball game there, even when it was Point vs Whitewater. During NCAA tourney games, they don't fill the place for some reason. Must have better things to do.

I would think that tickets will be available at the door, Appleton.  You shouldn't have a problem.  Probably the biggest problem with getting the students to attend is that they have to pay.  There are roughly 300 free tickets available through the athletic department, residence life and DLK Enterprises.  Also the game is streamed live on the campus TV station which is available on campus and through the local cable company.  So some students prefer to sit in the local bars or their apartments and watch.  Regardless I expect a pretty decent crowd tonight and hopefully people in Oshkosh have caught the fever and will show in significant numbers.

I believe they call that a double standard.   ;)

Whitewater handled the Titans today.  Glad to see the Phi Betta Kappa guys from Whitewater could get out of the library to shout rude things at the Oshkosh fans.  Interesting that with a 17 point lead Pat Miller works the refs to get a Technical foul, one of three the Warhawks had today.  Might want to have a sportsmanship refresher if they host in NCAA tournament there.  >:(

Nearly perfect game form Q today. One missed shot, which was a 3pt attempt. Perfect from the line, and zero turnovers.

Hawks are clicking at the right time to make a deep NCAA.

Very impressive win today.

Congrates to WW.  Your program just continues to amaze me.  I will be hoping for another national championship.   But I have to wonder after watching Pat from close range for all these years, why people are so afraid to call it like it is and say that his behavior on the sidelines is way over the top.  After the game, during interviews, during the week, and in any situation that I have spoken with him he has been professional, friendly, and classy.  On the sideline during the game is a whole different story.  The number of stories are endless.  Now I expect to be ripped for suggesting anything remotely negative about WW, but go for it.  I am old and have thick skin.  Besides, I don't live for karma points.

You must mean rude things like "your season is over."   How about the Titan adults who stood applauding and mocking the officials when they called the second foul against us in the second half?  Any Phi Beta Kappas in that group?  If the only "rude" behavior you witnessed last night was on our side of the court you're simply biased because it clearly went both ways.

If your negative karma changes SG it won't be my doing.

I don't mean to change the subject but I thought I might make a comment about the basketball games that were played this weekend.  Both of the games had one significant similarity.  Against the BluGolds  the WARHAWKS were trailing 14-12 at the 11:21 mark.  Over the next seven minutes we made a 15-0 run to lead 27-14 before the BluGolds scored their next points.  Against the Titans we led 24-21 with 6:18 remaining and closed out the half with a 16-2 run to lead 40-23 at the buzzer.  While neither lead can't be overcome both runs essentially ended the games.

His players seem to have learned from him.  Patten and Oderguard got T's yesterday, too.

I recall that BW.  You may recall that the fouls were 6:1 at the time and after 2 drives in a row where WW players knocked Titans to the floor with no call, they had a legitimate beef. It's called a Bronx cheer.  I was in the top row but believe they were justified in ripping that bald ref, he was terrible.  He usually is.  >:( >:(   Please note that Coach Juckem maintained his composure and did not receive a technical foul.  ;) ;)
