Chaz Mootz, 6'2" G from Merrill, is heading to UWSP.  I don't know much about him.  He was a unanimous selection to the All Conference First Team that also included Division 1 prospects Trev Anderson and Sam Hauser of Stevens Point.  He averaged about 15 points a game and close to 8 rebounds.  With those rebounding numbers, he must play bigger than he is.  Will be playing on the Division 2 North Team in the WBCA Classic as well.

I'm not trying to correct you, but when I was looking up stuff on him, Wissports.net had him at 18.4 pts a game. I also read he led the Wisconsin Valley Conference in rebounding, at 7.5. That's impressive. 3rd in conference scoring at 16.3 and 2nd in assists at 3.1.

Ex WIAC member Superior's schedule is out.

http://www.uwsyellowjackets.com/schedule.aspx?path=mbball

Superior opens up, at home, on Saturday November 14 against...Stevens Point! Wow. Didn't see that one coming. I suppose, when you gotta fill the schedule,  you gotta fill the schedule,  even if it means going to Canada. Not surprisingly,  River Falls goes up there for the Superior tournament and the Yellowjackets head to Eau Claire for the Blugold's tourney. I'm pretty sure that's going to be common. And, of course, we can't forget about Stout.  They head to Canada as well for a game. Superior plays River Falls the opening night of their tourney but plays St. Olaf at Eau Claire's 1st round game.

6 of 9 non-conference games are WIAC related with 2 more against Finlandia and their other non conference game against Minnesota-Duluth.  They also have TWO in-season exhibition games, against Sioux Falls in November and UWGB in mid-December.  Uh?

Point gets a transfer!!  Mark Nelson, who played his high school ball at Monona Grove, is transferring from Division 2 Lindenwood University to UWSP.  It looks like he redshirted this past season and should still have freshman eligibility next season.  He is a 6'4" guard who garnered All State honors as a senior, should be a quality get for Point.

Maybe it's just me, but I find it funny that a former Point assistant coach gets a new head job at Lindenwood, and then loses a player to transferring to his old school.  Nelson could have made up his mind before Randall got the job though.

Greek Tragedy

Watch out IWU, looks like UWSP is hoarding guards now.

Haha, we don't need to get that started over here.

All kidding aside, the way Point runs their offense...they can flourish with 4 perimeter players on the floor at one time.  We saw it this season, Lutz isn't an inside player by any stretch of the imagination.  At 6'4", Nelson can guard bigger guys and stretch the defense on the offensive end.  The more I think about the recruiting class and what they bring to the table, the more excited I am for the season to start.

I keep waiting to hear about Whitewater picking up a transfer or two that make me envious, but I haven't heard anything yet...any news out there BW??

6'4"? Looks like we found our center!  ???  :o  ;D
