I keep waiting to hear about Whitewater picking up a transfer or two that make me envious, but I haven't heard anything yet...any news out there??
UW Milwaukee transfer Trinson White, who prepped at Milwaukee Riverside, has opted to transfer to Whitewater.

Former Sheboygan North standout Shaquille Francis is also headed to Whitewater in the fall. He played at Kishwaukee CC the last 2 years.

Saw this over on the CCIW page. The WIAC was 6th in attendance with Stevens Point 5th overall and Whitewater 28th. I never understood why Whitewater doesn't attract more fans. They are a very successful program in a lot of sports. Point averages over 600 more a game than Whitewater.

Sounds like a recruiting advantage to me...Which I'm sure Semling and Dernbach use quite frequently around the state.

Wow, the WIAC was down to 6th in the country in attendance. That's pretty pathetic.

You would think just the sheer size of the schools would give them an advantage. I understand not everyone is a fan, bit when a school of 6,000 to 10,000 only averages 500 fans, there's a problem. And that doesn't even count the community. Get out and promote the school.

I think there are lots of schools, even those of 6,000 to 10,000, where a sizable portion of the student population does their own thing. And, whatever the that "thing" may be, it may have nothing to do with athletics. This can apply even on a week night at a school where not much else may be happening, and a good percentage of the students live in campus housing, and thus only a short walk from the gym.  As far as attendance by non-students, perhaps the community has lots of other entertainment choices besides a college basketball game.
Lastly, as far as promoting a team either on camps or in the community, if the team lacks quality, no amount of promotion is likely to make much difference.  ;)

I'm not sure if our schedule is finalized but I doubt it will include Superior.  One opponent I am sure of is CCIW Augustana who are coming to our place.

I've also heard that the conference schedule isn't going to start until after the semester break.

Yep, that's the nice luxury that we CCIW types have enjoyed ever since Carroll left the league in '92, a nice luxury that we will lose once Carroll rejoins the league in 2016-17 and forces each current CCIW program to play two more conference games -- including, I'm almost certain, one in December. That's the way it was back in the old nine-team days, and it's the way that it's been for the WIAC throughout the nine-team era. It's just hard to figure out how to create a schedule for nine teams that doesn't necessitate at least one December game for everybody, unless you follow the MIAC model of a Monday/Wednesday/Friday playing schedule for a couple of weeks in January and/or February.

Ah, the old days.  ;D
