Point has released an article detailing their new faces.

Hardly "detailed" the new faces.  ??? >:( ;D

Yeah, pretty disappointed with the detail in the article...atleast the season starts on Saturday.

Dropping the conference game schedule to just 14 games means an extra 2 nonconference games. If a WIAC team is going to go 10-4, their nonconference record is going to have to be about 9-2.

Friday, Nov. 13
Whitewater at Ripon: A new look Warhawk team takes on 2015 MWC Co-POY and preseason All-American Ty Sabin and the Red Hawks.

La Crosse at Augustana: The Eagles travel to Rock Island to take on the National runner-ups. This could get ugly.

Saturday, Nov. 14
Platteville at Lake Forest: The Pioneers travel to Illinois to take on the Foresters. Both teams are predicted to finish near the middle of the pack of their respective conferences.

River Falls at Concordia (WI): The Falcons take on the Falcons in Mequon as River Falls tries to improve on their horrible 2-7 nonconference record from a year ago. It will be a tough start against Concordia, the NACC preseason favorites.

Stevens Point at Superior: The National Champs start their title defense vs a familar foe, but this time as a nonconference opponent in Canada. The Yellowjackets are picked 3rd in the UMAC, just a point behind 2nd place St. Scholastica.

St. Thomas at Eau Claire: The Blugolds host 10-time defending MIAC champ St. Thomas to kick off the season.

Minn. - Crookston at Stout: The Blue Devils host D2 opponent Minn. - Crookston.

My best guess at the weekend games:

Whitewater handles Ripon easy (17+)
Augustana in a no-brainer vs LaCrosse (25+)
Platteville by 20 over Lake Forest
River Falls struggles and loses to Concordia as non-conference woes for the Falcons continue
Stevens Point struggles early with Superior before winning by 18
St. Thomas beats Eau Claire by 6
Crookston has ZERO problems with Stout

I will most likely be completely wrong...but I took a shot

I watched about 7 minutes of the second half live stream. Let me say this - I don't know how WW was down at the break. They were on fire offensively and defensively they were very very solid. White was very impressive you can tell he's played at a very high level. They'll be a tough beat.

The Ripon team is good. They'll do quite well this year methinks.

I thought WW was horrible in the first half.  Only some stellar effort from Van Schyndel saved them as their shooting (both FG and FT) were subpar. In the 2nd half, the shots dropped and Ripon was in big foul trouble in the post.  Lots of easy drives by White and Brown during their run to get back to level and take the lead.

This arm bar allowed to hold position in the post rule is tough. Offensive players can act pushed and get fouls. Refs last night were touchy on that call all night.  Must really be a point of emphasis as they seemed intent on not allowing much post contact.

Remember him playing for his dad at Brillion...  Always wondered if he would struggle to get his shot off in college.  Guess for at least last night it wasn't an issue.

It is a point of emphasis this year.  At our scrimmage with MSOE the officials spent 10-15 minutes going over the rule changes and points of emphasis and this is something they stressed even physically demonstrating what would and woundn't be allowed.

Details to follow.

The first half was pretty ugly.  It took the WARHAWKS almost four minutes to score and Ripon led thoughout gradually building the lead to a high of eleven points 28-17 just before the half ended 28-19 in their favor.  The WARHAWKS shot 30.8% from the floor and just 1 of 9 three pointers and 2-11 free throws.  Fortunately Ripon didn't play a whole lot better and their lead was only nine.  Cole Van Schyndel's 6 points and Drew Bryson's 5 points led the WARHAWKS.  Ripon got off to a quick start in the second half .   Their lead grew to 14 points in the first three minutes and never fell below eight points until the ten minute mark.   An 8-0 run over the next three minutes fueled by baskets by Trinson White, Andre Brown (2) and Tyler Edmondson pushed the WARHAWKS to their first lead of the game 51-50.  After that the WARHAWKS lead reached a high of seventeen points twice and we'd scored 55 points before the final horn.   The WARHAWKS shot 71.4% from the floor in the second half finishing the game at 51.9%.  Trinson White led all scorers with 21 points while  Drew Bryson and Andre Brown added 13 and 12 points respectively.   Taylor Edmonddson pulled down a game high 8 rebounds.  White and Brown each had a game high 4 assists.   The WARHAWKS had a ten point advantage (32-22) in the paint and an eight point advantage off the bench (22-14).

Superior transfer Ty Ketz led the Red Hawks with 19 points.  Bryson did a nice job defending All American Ty Sabin who was held to just 10 points on  4-17 shooting.

Greek Tragedy

A somewhat disappointing start to the nonconference schedule as the WIAC goes just 3-4 over the weekend. I guess it wasn't all that bad since I assumed Stout would lose to Minn. - Crookston, La Crosse going down at Augustana and St. Thomas topping Eau Claire. River Falls losing at Concordia could be viewed as an upset, but the home Falcons are favored to win the NACC.

Point topped Superior in Canada, Whitewater got a nice win at Ripon and Platteville won in 2 OTs at Lake Forest.

Tomorrow brings a new slate of games.

Oshkosh has a tough task at MWC favorite St. Norbert. Like River Falls, Oshkosh needs to pass these nonconference tests to prove they are worthy of contending in the WIAC.

Platteville has another road test at Dubuque, an NCAA participant last year.

La Crosse hosts Lakeland as well.

I would be ok with 2-1 tomorrow.

There's been a lot of talk about River Falls and Oshkosh taking that next step with Point losing four senior starters and Whitewater completely revamping. In my estimation,  River Falls really needed to win in Mequon over the weekend. Though Concordia is favored to win their conference, the NACC is viewed as a weaker conference and someone wanting to contend in the WIAC needs to win theses kinds of games. I understand that River Falls was without Grant Erickson, but they have to take care of business.

Oshkosh is in the same boat tomorrow. Though I don't expect the Titans to win tomorrow, unlike River Falls vs Concordia, I would be very impressed if they pulled it off tomorrow.
