Platteville loses 75-74. Down by 15+ to start the game. Pioneers had a shot to win at the end.
Pioneers looked slow and unathletic.
Oshkosh looked good but Juckem was out-coached tonight.
Seems like the WIAC has a long way to go.

Juckem was not out coached.  The Green Knightscoutplayed them.  Why is DeValk not a D1 player?

Might drive down to Green Bay tonight to see the SNC vs. Titans game. I like the Titans and their new frosh are good players.  Schuldes is more like a high school gym than a college court, so that should help them get comfortable.
We'll see how good they are by the amount of playing time they see....  Guessing Boots (and maybe Wittchow) will be the only one that sees significant court time.
Watch for Omeke and Johnson to get some minutes this season.
So were they hurt tonight, or just not in the rotation for Game #1 of the season?

I feel that the Green Knights out-played the Titans this evening, even with the projected leading scorer (Bobinski) being held to 7 points. Coach Grzesk had them in mid-season form defensively. DeValk definitely played more confident than last year and the group as a whole played their roles really well. As seems to be the trend with a lot of games around the area, the reffing around the low post area seems to be very touchy. SNC had only 10 turnovers tonight and it feels like 8 of them were off of offensive fouls. Reinthaler will be another great stretch 4 for Coach Grzesk after losing Schwoerer to graduation.

One place I did not expect the Green Knights to succeed was on the boards. They were able to get a +11 rebound differential while being a relatively small team. The guards came back to rebound well when Marshall or Reinthaler had their guy boxed out.

SNC always seems to catch Oshkosh before they get their feet under them. I don't think this game is necessarily indicative of how Oshkosh's season will go, but it was a great win for SNC tonight. Now they get rewarded with getting to play the defending National Champions on the road. Schuldes has turned into a nice home-court advantage over the years, but a road game next Tuesday will tell me a lot more about how good this team really is.

The SNC vs UWO game had arguably one of the the best group of officials either team will get all season tonight as well!!!!

Juzenas, Theisen and Pressentin are all guys that I enjoy seeing on the court if I am watching a game.

My comment about Juckem being out-coached is because I saw a much sharper team from SNC than I did from Oshkosh. I thought Oshkosh played well, they have talent, but SNC was arguably, more prepared. This is again, just my take on it but being that good defensively, which I thought SNC was, to me, is coaching.

Also, saying a team coach out-coached another is in no way a shot at SNC's players.

It was a very well-played game. Must be Mrs. Juckem that I offended by saying he was outcoached tonight. Sorry Mrs. J!

It is actually a point of emphasis... not a "trend ... around the area."

Someone on the MWC board said something about academics and credits transferring/not transferring for Ty Ketz.
Thanks Old School!!!  Makes sense...

I would think you would have an idea of what credits transfer and what ones don't prior to actually transferring. And unless more Superior credits tranfer back to St. Norbert than vice-versa, he just loses another year of credits that he earned at Superior. The coaching staff and players probably didn't have a problem with Ketz and he knew that, otherwise,  he wouldn't have transferred back.

Interesting comment from a Lawrence fan. If Schuldes is a high school gym, what does that make Alexander Gym? Edison Elementary School?

I watched most of the Oshkosh game last night.  I was impressed with the guard play of the Titans but the post play left a lot to be desired.  Is Nick Olson not 100 percent or have others passed him??  He was solid last year and barely played in this game.

I was very impressed with freshman Ben Boots.  He's going to be a player.  This conference is going to have some ridiculous guard play moving forward when you include Bublitz at Point and Brown at Whitewater.

They must have loosened the uniform restrictions at the NCAA level this year then as according to the box score Nick Olson played one minute at SNC...  :o
