Friendly reminder...Platteville just got beat by 30 at home to North Central.

Not with Woodrow

Don't think Woodrow would have made a difference vs NCC. Haven't seen the kid play but thats a pretty big jump. He scored 21 points and they just lost to Hope by 10.
Oshkosh has won 5 straight.
Whitewater has won 2 straight after losing to Augustana.
Stevens Point beat Lawerence after losing 2 straight.
River Falls has lost 2 straight after winning 4 in a row.
Eau Claire lost BIG to St. Norbert after winning 2 in a row.
La Crosse beat Luther after dropping 2 straight.
Stout beat Dubuque after losing to Buena Vista.

This WIAC wrap-up is brought to you by someone who has nothing better to do but watch an inept Packer offense.

badgerwarhawk

That would be the "inept" Packer offense that ran for 230 yards and put 435 yards on the board. Ran 81 plays to their opponent's 51 and had over a quarter of play advantage in time of possession to go with four scores.  ???

I'm not sure what game you were watching but there really wasn't that much ineptness in the one against the Cowboys.  ;)

It was 14-7 and we had just punted 4 straight possessions. Looked pretty inept...until!
Offense still struggled. 3 & 1...4 straight punts...anytime we beat the Cowboys I'm happy though!  ;)

Good defense by St Thomas but horrible offense by Point. For the life of me I can't understand why the offense has to run through Pelkofer every time down the court. That's not working coach.

SP Pointer

Long time Pointer fan, season ticket holder, etc. and been reading all on this board quite a while. Haven't posted in a long time, don't like when players are personally named & criticized, for any team.  Mainly why I don't post.  I totally agree however with St.Thomas defense being the key...the best helping defense I have seen in quite a while. Main reason why Point had to throw up such contested shots before the shot clock went off, especially the 2nd half.  Really impressed with St Thomas in all phases and I saw Augustana in the National Championship game in Salem.  Both look to be potential Final Four teams playing for the national title.  And, much of the game Point had 3 freshman and a sophmore on the floor...they will get better!

Bo Ryan is stepping down as UW-Madison coach. I think he had just a small amount of success at the D3 level ;)

Not completely sure how accurate that statement is as McGann and Pelkofer played 36 and 35 minutes, respectively. However, to see two freshmen in Bublitz and Tauber log 38 and 34 is definitely impressive. Thrown in the fire now will only benefit them in the long run. As a Pointer fan, tough to see Point at just 4-4, but we play a tough schedule losing to THREE current Top 5 teams in #1 Augustana,  #4 Hope and now #5 St. Thomas. All 3 could be Final Four teams.

Yes, as fans we can be critical and we are used to winning. Realistically though, there was going to be some tough times after losing 4 senior starters and only returning two guys that played significant minutes.

My remarks had nothing to do with criticizing anyone other than the offense Point was trying to run. Half of the possessions in the second half were attempts to get Pelkofer the ball, which was unsuccessful due to tough defense. When that's not working you try something else, which didn't happen and resulted in difficult shot attempts to beat the buzzer.

SP Pointer

frodotwo - sorry, I didn't mean to interpret your post the wrong way!  That was one tough 2nd half!

sac

I've watched Point 3 times now, they are having a really hard time getting baskets in close.  More often then not their offense gets trapped on the perimeter and they end up settling for mid-range or long 2pt jump shots.   Fine if you make them, but not so fine when you don't, at the moment they are very much a jump shooting team.

It really hurts that they are not a very good 3 point shooting team, just 31% as a team and no one over 40.  Teams can just really concentrate on keeping the lane closed off and make Point shoot over them.

Different schedule though and maybe they're 7-1, so who knows.  :)

Point has to get shots up faster against a team D like that.
