55-53 - congrats to the Eagles for their first conference title in 51 years; they had to beat the best, the Pointers, last year's D3 champs, to do it. 1,600 fans in the house, a great crowd.
Coach Koelbl has got to be feeling pretty good right now in beating the team he was an assistant coach with....

Lyndon Johnson was president, the Beatles were in their prime, and the UWL Eagles were the La Crosse State Indians. Playing at the city owned Mary E Sawyer Auditorium, they last won the conference title in 1965. Until tonight. With a crowd of more than 1600 in attendance, coach Ken Koelbl's Eagles held off the Stevens Point Pointers to wrap up the 2015-16 WIAC title. Picked 7th in the pre-season press release, the Eagles shocked all observers to reach the summit. Congratulations to all coaches, players, and staff on a great season.
