I encourage ALL WIACers, even lurkers, to go to the front page and vote for Jon Christensen to play in the All-Star game during the Final Four. Let's support our guy!

Been there, done that.

I picked this link off of the CCIW page. Hero Sports chose the top BB team in each state regardless of division. UWW was the choice over UWSP. No disprespect to UWW, the national titles are even, but Point has won 29 conference titles to 15, 8 to 4 tourney championships.

UW-WHITEWATER was also the #1 football program in the state in the Hero Sports poll done a while ago.

I think that's a pretty obvious choice based on success for football anyways, can't help but think Point got snubbed for basketball though.  GT has already explained why, It seems like an obvious choice to me.

It's a meaningless award, not anything to feel "snubbed" about.

That's true...still have to wonder how much effort was put into making the list.

I wouldn't worry about Hero Sports... they are trying to make a name for themselves with click bait stuff.

Very good get for UWO

Today's State Journal reported that long time WW baseball coach and a former WW basketball coach Jim Miller passed away sorry to hear that.  Miller put together the foundation of WW's successful baseball program and did a lot of behind the scenes things at WW.  He was also my high school drivers ed teacher but that was not something he would put on his resume.  My thoughts to his family.

Bob Semling, Pat Miller and assistant coaches from Eau Claire and Oshkosh were watching the playoff game between Muskego and Sun Prairie last night.  I'm assuming they were there for Caleb Wagner, guard for Muskego.

So, now that the NCAA field has been announced...

7 of UWSP's 11 Non-con opponents made the field (3-4: Augie (L), Hope (L), Keene St. (W), North Central (L), St. Olaf (W), St. Norbert (W), St. Thomas (L)).

Adding Oshkosh (1-1), UWSP went 4-5 vs. the field.

And of Point's 8 NCAA opponents, 3 of them are hosting (St. Norbert, Augustana, and St. Thomas) the first weekend.

Not bad for a 14-12 team.

UWSP is getting better vs. the field (compared with my last bored report... what? they're not playing, I haven't got anything better to do!)... heading into the Sweet 16 games tonight, Point has improved to .500 against the (remaining) field!

Rd. 1: 4-5   (Oshkosh and North Central lost)
Rd. 2: 3-3  (St. Olaf and Hope lost)
Rd. 3: 2-2

How long until practice begins in the fall...?

Elm hurst shoots 40 FT. Oshkosh shot 6 FT

I believe you actually know something about basketball but even Pat Juckem admitted in the postgame that with his team working outside the perimeter and Elmhurst consciously pushing the ball into the post, the foul differential is going to happen. Plus 12 of those foul shots came in the final minute when, you know, teams foul.

Just stating the facts, Pat. :(   Did not see the postgame conference and Juckem would not baste an official even if he felt they were worthy of it.

My only negative referee observation from watching the game twice is that they let the several of the EC bigs in the lane as long as they seemed to want to be there--eventually Oshkosh fouled those guys on double down on post after what appeared to be 3 seconds or more of residence.  Also made an inside out game easier for EC.

Oshkosh needs a big just like most WIAC teams this year did--we'll see if they can get one.  Good year for the Titans.  :)
