Did Redlands and Grinnell ever play? I thought I remembered something but haven't had time to look into it.

A baseball box score notes how long it took for the game to be played. I wish that basketball box scores did as well. Who knows how long it took to play this weird contest?
Grinnell still has the replay on Stretch if you're curious to watch.  Took about 2:10.  Looks like the refs did a decent job of getting the free throws set up quickly.  If this was two NBA teams playing like that it would take 4 hours.

I'll take any Grinnell game over any NBA game.

Back in the days of Grotberg, Long, Arsenault, the System was actually pretty entertaining. It usually wasn't a hackfest and the players were actually pretty talented. This year, it looks like they have some shooters.

Unfortunately for Rhodes, it was in the "live by the sword, die by the sword" against Wisconsin-Eau Claire last weekend in St. Louis.

Eau Claire broke Rhodes' press nearly every time, often resulting in layups or dunks.  EC had an unbelievable 96-44 edge in points in the paint at game's end.  96 of the Bluegolds' 120 points were inside the paint.  EC's defense was also very good, as Rhodes failed to score in the first 5 minutes of the game.

Perhaps pressing full-time is an integral part of a "System" approach, but I was wondering if Rhodes would call off the press in that situation when everything about it was falling apart.  I guess in its formative stages at Rhodes, you have to keep the press in if you want the System to stick.  Hopefully it does stick for Rhodes...but it suffered quite the dismantling by Eau Claire last Friday night.

BTW...UC-Santa Cruz had similar success against Rhodes the next night--en route to a 111-109 OT win.

They played once that I could find, but I seem to remember a second game.  Anyway, the box score I found was about as disappointing as the Greenville-Grinnell game from this year.  I don't think System vs System works as we'd like it to, probably because the focus is actually on defense.  Now a game where neither team cared about defense might be interesting; I think that's what people picture when they think System vs System.

They play that game every year. It's called the NBA All-Star Game, and, no, it's not interesting.

Wow!!! I know the Falcons are playing well and they played their last home opener in the Karges center, but I'm guessing they are going to like the new Falcon Center. Looking forward to seeing it.

They don't care much about offense in that game either - maybe if they told the players they only get their game check if they win, it would be more entertaining.

Now that aint a bad idea... though, I think the winner gets a bigger check than the loser? Or that is another All-Star game. Maybe they can say the game will determine which conference gets home field advantage in the NBA Finals ... um ... never mind.

I saw the Warhawks beat Rockford 97 - 85 last night. They are big, quick and talented. Chris Jones did not start either half for whatever reason but still came up with his usual 23 points. Knoblauch hit five of eight 3-pointers and is surely one of the best freshmen in the league. He got more playing time than any other player, not usually the case for a freshman.

Looking forward to seeing conference play. Good to win, not sure UWW has had the toughest schedule. Conference play should be interesting. Grab a handful of teams to win it. Hopefully they don't beat each other up where we only get one conference tournament winner in. It will definitely be a very tough conference to win this year!

This looks like it could be a very fun season to be a WIAC fan. There doesn't seem to be a foregone conclusion as to who will win the league, and it also appears that the league as a whole might be very balanced.

The reason he didn't start is because of a new NCAA rule that just went into effect this year. The rule is that if you have already attended three different schools in three different states since high school, including not attending any school at all for a year, you can't start until you can demonstrate the ability to actually attend the same school two years in a row!
Seems the stuffy 'ol NCAA was concerned that such a shopping expedition might possibly demonstrate a lack of seriousness with regard to to academic pursuits, and more of a desire or be an athletic "student," as opposed to the NCAA DIII desired standard of truly being a student-athlete:)

AndOne--thanks for the explanation. The rule makes sense to  me.
