Rockford (1-7): 85
WARHAWKS (5-0): 97

The WARHAWKS posted their highest scoring output of the year and timely three  point shooting scoring 51 points in the second half, to hold off Rockford 97-85 and improve to 5-0 on the season,

The Regents scored first and with one exception held the lead, which reached a high of seven points, for the first twelve minutes before Andre Brown's jumper put the WARHAWKS up 27-26 and gave us a lead we would hold for the remainder of the game.  The lead reached a high of twelve points 40-28 when Chris Jones sank a three pointer with a little over three and half minutes.  Rockford would pull to within six points at the two minute mark but the half ended with the WARHAWKS lead at eight 46-38.  Jones came off the bench and led all scorers with 16 points while Scotty Tyler contributed 10 points, seven rebounds and Andre Brown added 8 points.  The WARHAWKS lead quickly reached double figures in the second half getting as high as fifteen points on a couple of occasions in the first nine minutes.  However Rockford rallied and over the next six minutes or so stayed within striking distance pulling to within five points 79-74 around the five minute mark.  The WARHAWKS regained a double digit lead for good when Demetrius Woodley scored in the paint making the score 88-77 at the four minute mark.  It grew to a high fifteen before the game ended.

Jones: 23 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals
Zach Knobloch: 17 points (5-8 3's), 7 rebounds, 3 assists
Scotty Tyler: 15 points, 10 rebounds, assist, 2 blocks, 2 steals
Woodley: 11 points, 8 rebounds, steal
Team: 18/6 assist/turnover, 42-28 in the paint, 47-21 bench points,

Observation:  This game played out much like the one against Beloit.  We would build a significant lead only to lose much of it before rallying and winning with a comfortable margin.  Watching it you didn't have the feeling we were going to lose but we just couldn't put the Regents away for good.  Offensively we're pretty decent.  But we have to get much, much better defensively if we expect to challenge in conference play.   This team has the potential to be be pretty good if we can defend.

This looks like it could be a very fun season to be a WIAC CCIW fan. There doesn't seem to be a foregone conclusion as to who will win the league, and it also appears that the league as a whole might be very balanced.

::)  ;D  :P

Actually, I was just saying that the CCIW and the WIAC sound simliar this year.

Just saw another very good performance, this time by UWSP, in a 74-72 win at Hope. Nelson, excellent through the second half (the only one I saw) won it on a drive and step back jumper from about 18 feet. GT, if you saw it, you should be feeling a lot better about the Pointers' chances. I think Nelson led all scorers with about 20.Bublitz was also outstanding.

Delmore scored 15 in the first half and with Nelson kept them in the game.  Bublitz came alive in the 2nd half and finished with 24.  Delmore finished with 19, Nelson 17...Nelson hit a step back jumper with 1 second left after Hope tied the game with a deep 3 with 11 seconds left.

Oshkosh leads Geo. Fox U., a very inept team tonight, 71-44 w/5 minutes left. Hard to get a line on Osh., because they were not pushed and were in a one on one offense most of the second half. G.F. won't find it any easier at WW tomorrow.

Kalamazoo (2-6): 64
WARHAWKS (6-0): 80

The WARHAWKS used solid first half shooting and maintained their advantage through the second half in defeating Kalamazoo 80-64 Saturday.  Opening with a 10-0 run the WARHAWKS were fast out of the gate though Kalamazoo would pull back to within a pair with an 8-0 run of their own.  But the WARHAWKS reestablished their dominance using a 19-2 run to go up 29-12.  Kalamazoo would get back to within ten 36-26 before the half ended with the WARHWKS up 43-30.  The WARHAWKS shot 52% from the floor including 50% from beyond the arc.  Scotty Tyler's 10 points led the team while Zach Knobloch added 9 and Chris Jones 6.  The ]WARHAWKS lead grew into the twenties after about seven minutes of play and essentially remained there until Kalamazoo was able to cut it to twelve 71-59 with less than two minutes remaining against the end of the bench forcing the return of some starters for the remainder.

Chris Jones: 18 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals
Tyler: 12 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 blocks, 2 steals
Team: 27-6 off of turnovers,

Umm. So according to this site and Edgewood's site, Point's home game is Wednesday, Dec 21. According to Point's website, it's Thursday, December 22...I guess I'll try to go to both of them.

Wartburg beat UWEC 103-90. EC was up 45-36 at half. Not as many  open 3'S in 2nd half for EC, Wartburg got out and ran and took ball to the hoop with guards. 2 good wins by WC over WIAC teams this year.

WW over George Fox 98-63. Jones w/28 led all scorers. WW now the only unbeaten WIAC team. GF made a mistake from the get go in pressing. It's not smart to run w/WW. Not that GF was going to win anyway.

BTW AndOne, Jones started, so does that mean he's served his time under the new NCAA rule?

I noticed this in preseason, but decided to wait it out instead of screwing it up for someone. I guess it still hasn't been figured out. LOL

Jones has started 5 of the 7 games we've played including the opening game.

George Fox (3-5): 63
WARHAWKS (7-0): 98

George Fox had the lead for the first three minutes before Scotty Tyler's 3 point basket made the score 11-9 and a lead the WARHAWKS would maintain for the rest of the evening.  Over the next five minutes the WARHAWKS lead would fluctuate between a single point and double figures.  The lead reached a high of twenty two points just before the half ended with a three pointer by the Bruins.  Chris Jones' 18 points led the way while Demetrius Woodley added 8 points and 8 rebounds.  As a team the WARHAWKS shot 58%, outscored the Bruins 16-9 off turnovers, 20-10 in the paint and 16-8 off the bench.  The lead reached a high of 34 in the second half when the WARHWKS shot 64% from the floor and 78% from beyond the arc.

Jones: 28 points, 3 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals
Woodley: 11 points, 13 rebounds, 2 assists
Drew Bryson: 10 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists, 3 steals
Tyler: 10 points, 4 rebounds
Andre Brown: 10 points, 3 rebounds, 3 steals

The WIAC an impressive 47-14 (77%) with some tough games this week. Point at St. Thomas and Augustana at La Crosse. Let's not forget about a couple of matchups against the IIAC this week as well, Loras and Wartburg beat La Crosse and Eau Claire last week.

Obviously a huge win for Point on the road at Hope. Definitely give them a lift going into another tough road game against St. Thomas, though they probably won't be ranked this week. They lost at home to Hamline last week. As mentioned previously, they have a brutal run to finish off the nonconference portion of their schedule...Augustana and North Central.
