You guys can laugh but no one is beating Whitewater after February I'll guarantee it.  Have you guys seen this kid play he will go down as top 5 ever in the WIAC.

Technically he would be right if they get knocked out of the WIAC tourney and don't get a Pool C bid.  ???  ;D  :D  :P

I heard Whitewater is so good this year that Pat Miller is going to calmly sit on the bench and observe, and leave the referees to do their job without interference.  Might even go recruiting on some game nights and let his assistants handle the games.  ;) :o :o

It was a nice win.  Augustana seemed off to me.  They are quite long, but didn''t seem to have their hearts in the game.  Their coach pretty mucch yelled at either the refs or his players for the whole game.  I wondered if they might be tired of it.

Although a coach's notoriety is limited on the D3 level due to lack of media exposure, I still doubt that any recruit has ever showed up at Augie who wasn't already fully aware of Grey Giovanine's sideline demeanor. If a recruit didn't already know about Giovanine's behavior, the coaches of the other schools that courted the kid during the recruitment process undoubtedly made him aware of it. Giovanine's by far the most volatile coach in the CCIW, and I'll bet that he ranks right up there nationally in the lunatic-on-the-sidelines sweepstakes.

It doesn't seem to affect his ability to draw recruits, though, as his remarkable success at Augie since he arrived there nearly two decades ago speaks for itself. And I know for a fact that a lot of his former players continue to revere him after their playing days are over. All of which is to say that if the Augie players are tired of Giovanine riding their tails, they have no excuses ... nor do they deserve anybody else's sympathy.

Yes they are and they proved it tonight with a 73-64 win over the Dawgs.

Though they lost to Hamline AT home by double digits. Hamline had previously lost their last two at home and then went in and beat the Tommies on their home floor. Oh well...on to Edgewood next week.

Come on.  Really!  You recruit players that want to coached and coached hard.  I'm pretty sure that the players he recruits understand and have probably played for coaches who demand their best.

As I said, Augie recruits tend to know what they're getting into when they choose Augustana. But demanding a player's best and acting like a maniac are not synonymous. There's no correlation between a coach's sideline antics and his ability to draw out a high level of performance from his players. Grey Giovanine wins because he recruits well and he prepares his players well ... not because he screams like a banshee at them from the sidelines during a game.

But Greg, if John Wooden had acted like a madman on the sidelines, he might have won some titles! ;D

After a big win on the road against Hope, Point returns to earth with a loss at St. Thomas. Granted, the Tommies are usually tough despite their early-season troubles, but they dug themselves an early hole they couldn't get out of. 4 players in double-figures for Point. I suppose if you offered me a split at Hope and at St. Thomas at the beginning of the year, I probably would take it. Hopefully we don't slip up against "trap game" Edgewood next week before hosting Augustana and North Central.

Yeah, but recruiting well and preparing your players is one thing, but getting them to execute is something totally different.  If proper execution can be achieved by yelping on the sidelines then so be it.  I don't care if your in high school, college or in the pros, players want to be coached,
