Trine (4-5): 60
WARHAWKS (8-0): 85

Freshman shooting guard Zach Knobloch opened the game with three three point baskets staking the WARHAWKS to a 9-0 lead.  Trine would respond with 8 straight of their own to pull within one but a 20-5 WARHAWKS run over the next six and a half minutes to go up sixteen 29-13 essentially put the game out of Trine's reach.  Trine cut it to nine but the WARHAWKS quickly responded and led 46-31 at the half.  Knobloch led all scorers with 18 points (6-8 three point) and Chris Jones added 8.  Fifteen Trine turnovers led to the WARHAWKS scoring 19 points.  Trine pulled to within eleven early in the second half but after four minutes the WARHAWKS lead was at twenty-one 56-35 and with one exception it remained in the twenties, reaching a high of twenty-nine 78-49 with a little under eight minutes remaining.  Knobloch went 8-11 from beyond the arc and led all scorers.  Andre Brown added 12 and Chris Jones 10.  The WARHAWKS shot 50% from the floor including 52% (14-27) on three point attempts.

Knobloch: 24 points
Andre Brown: 12 points
Jones: 10 points, 3 assists
Scotty Tyler: 8 points, 6 rebounds
Demetrius Woodley: 6 points, 6 assists, 2 steals
Mitch Pfieffer: 7 points, 2 assists

Team: 17/8 assist/turnover, 25-4 off turnovers, 22-10 in the paint

Though outrebounded 36-32 I thought this was probably the best overall game we've played to date.

Amazing stats, BW. Especially Knobloch's! Wonder if he's related to an outstanding WW football player of the early 60's.

In fact, Knobloch leads the D3 nation w/62+percent makes. Not many have made more. Noone, of Oshkosh, is second in WIAC with something like 48% and 25 makes.

10 days off hasn't stopped Oshkosh from putting the hurt on St. Norbert. It's 42-20 at the half. Wow.

That was a strange boxscore.  DJ Devalk had 21 points for SNC; no one else had more than 4.

And my last thoughts-

* There are schools you want to beat because you feel they have some type of built in advantage.
* There are schools you want to beat because you feel while they technically operate within the rules,
you feel they barely do so, and are consequently a bit "dirty."
* There are schools you want to beat because they are not only good, but they flaunt it. They walk
around with their noses in the air, and aren't satisfied just to win. They want you to bow down
after they beat you and say, "yes team X, you're the greatest D3 school and team ever."
* There are schools you want to beat because they are your traditional rival.
* There is only one school that you have none of the above feelings about. But you still want to
beat them just as much as the other teams because, while they have a great Xs and Os coach,
they also have one who terrorizes refs, belittles players, and generally acts like a hyena on the
    sidelines.
You know who I'm talkin' 'bout.  ;)

I know who you're talking about.  Bo Pelini and Youngstown State.

He's not.  Jim Knobloch was my neighbor for several years.

I've never seen a three point shooter who can set his feet and release as quickly as he does.  At times it's so quick that he doesn't appear to even look at the basket.  No doubt things will get more difficult once we get into the conference season and his numbers could drop off. But he's off to a hell of a start and is going to be a player to deal with.  His game will only get better with experience.  Plus the best part is that he's solid and versatile enough defensively that we can leave him on the floor.  The last time I checked he was second on the team in average minutes with 31+.  We don't have many freshman who get that many minutes.

Undefeated Ripon and scoring sensation Ty Sabin (31.2 pts/gm) in Williams Center tonight.  Redhawks enter 6-0 including a win over Loras who's 2-0 vs the WIAC.  Last year we won by 14 points (74-60) and held Sabin to 10 points on 17 shots in their gym.
