Greek Tragedy

Still hardly a team to take lightly. They've been playing fine without him the last few games. They are probably more dangerous since teams can't just focus on Raridon and Sorenson.

In our futures fantasy league, magicman drafted two Whitewater players in back to back rounds. Guess he's been drinking the ShineTime purple kool-aid.

Did you allow anyone to draft the "D-1 transfer to be named later" as a pick?   ???

He's already playing, right?  Or is it not Scotty Tyler we're talking about?  Is there yet another, even better, transfer?

The transfer we're talking about isn't Scotty Tyler it's Derek Rongstad a Middleton HS graduate sophomore walk on at UW-M.  He's transferring and reportedly is eligible after midterm.   I don't think anyone believes he's a better transfer than Tyler but the mention of his transferring brought ShineTime out hibernation which led to his pronouncing the WARHAWKS unbeatable and destined for perfection.

... which is not even the juicy part of his post. This line is pure gold:

Quote from: ShineTime on December 22, 2016, 10:52:39 PMMore than likely going to be best d3 team of all time no need for d when you have 5 guys who can average 20 on any given night.

Yowza!

Quote from: badgerwarhawk on December 29, 2016, 09:48:20 AMSince then we've just been having some fun with it.   ;D

I don't want to seem like a bully, re: ShineTime, but how could you not have fun with a post that not only foreordains an undefeated season but a best D3 team of all time season for a team laden with "5 guys who can average 20 on any given night" [sic]?

As expected, Eau Claire beats Gustavus Adolphus 78-57.

Weix leads 4 players in double figures with 25 pts and 7 rebs.

Thursday sees Point with the toughest game against CCIW preseason favorite North Central and IIAC preseason favorite Central play Stout.

Point is catching a break.  NCC's stud Connor Raridon is out with an injury.  That's a huge loss for the Cardinal.

Agreed. I'm not 100% convinced that UWSP has the tougher row to hoe today, since it's an open question as to whether a Raridon-less NCC is better than Central. (Massey's got NCC #27 and Central #31, for what that's worth.)

While I agree that the Cardinals sans Raridon are definitely not a team to be taken lightly, there is no way that they are more dangerous without him than with him. Other Cardinals have stepped up their games in his absence, but that's not a guaranteed fix on a game-by-game basis for the absence of a 6'7 preseason All-American who was averaging 17.7 ppg and 7.0 rpg when he got hurt.

I didn't say anyone should be taken lightly.  What I said was Raridon's absence is a break for Point and a significant loss for North Central.   There's no way Raridon's replacement, as good as he may be, is as good as Raridon unless North Central has a 17 pt/gm, 7 reb/gm preseason All American sitting on their bench.  I haven't checked but on the surface that seems unlikely. ;D

I wouldn't have picked Point in this game if Raridon was playing.  Without him I think they've got a legit shot at what some would call an upset.  We'll see if that is the case.

I agree, this is right on.  With Rairdon, NCC is the clear favorite; without him, I think it's pretty close to even.  Sorenson is going to be a tough matchup, but if the Pointers' shooting is on, they'll be able to hang, no problem.

Osh 78, NW of Minn. 58. Noone w/20 leads scoring. Noone/Boots guard combo very good, esp on 3 shooting and quickness.

Keep in mind that NCC just beat the #18 ranked team without Raridon as two players scored 24, and two more each had 18. That's no guarantee they can best a tough UWSP team, especially on the road, but the Cardinals do have some players besides Raridon & Sorenson.

Noooooo, it was Coe that lost to Osh.

Plat. beat NW 74-65. Duax had 25.

Correct score, wrong opponent.  Titans defeated Coe, where Coach Juckem was before joining the then 0-16 WIAC Titans. He won the IIAC there.  Not bad work leading the Titans to a title from the basement in 4 years.  :o

The score of the Whitewater vs. Lawrence game at JustaGame Fieldhouse in Wisconsin Dells in 56-44 with 16:10 left in the second half.  ShineTime's UW-W best team in D-3 history predictions suggest that U-Dub Dub is ahead (they can't be touched), the $8 paywall came up before I could discern who was actually leading.  Coach DePagter's body language was positive; the announcers were apparently deaf mutes and had no arms to turn the camera during the period I was able to watch and strain my ears to listen.  I couldn't hear Pat Miller providing positive feedback to the officials either, the camera didn't focus on his cool persona.

Maybe one of you super successful UW-W guys is paying and would clarify.  ;)

I am working on contacting Pat Coleman and various necessary websites to officially add an asterisk to their win tonight because, you know, Raridon didn't play, so it's really not a real win. This *win will also be taken into account if Point is in contention for a Pool C bid.

On an unrelated note, if the boxscore is correct, I'm very impressed with 2200 fans showing up, sans students, for a weekday game.

A very nice crowd for sure.
Actually, a detailed analysis of the crowd, based on the official attendance listed in the box score, revealed there were 2 students among the total of 2222 that witnessed the win over the Raridon-less NCC team.  :)

P.S. I think the North Park guys are gonna be mad at you.........for calling NCC the #13 team.  ;)

My apologies. My Top 25 bookmark went to Week 3. Wrong week. NCC is #20.

I have been reading the undefeated stuff and I think it will be Stout who will go undefeated in the conference :D
