Pretty sure you met him in the mirror, but that's OK -- fully aware of this and if you continue to stay above board, won't be an issue.

WARHAWKS (11-0): 79
Central (7-4): 68

For the first six minutes of the game the teams exchanged the lead five times and tied three times.  Trailing by a point 11-10 Derek Rongstad gave the WARHAWKS the lead for good when he drilled a three pointer.  After a Central free throw Rongstad hit another three pointer sparking the WARHAWKS who gradually built the lead to thirteen 28-15 with eight and half minutes remaining in the half.  Central used a 10-0 run to reduce the lead to three points 28-25 over the next few minutes and basically hung within single digits until the WARHAWKS finished the half with a basket from Mitchell Pfeifer and an buzzer beating NBA three pointer by Zach Knobloch to go up eleven 44-33 .  The WARHAWKS made just 4 of 20 shots inside the arc but shot 58.&% (10-17) from beyond it, 6-6 from the free throw line, got 26 points from the bench and turned the ball over just two times in maintaining the lead.  Rongstad's 12 points (4-5 3pt) led the way and Pfeifer added 11.  Central pulled to within nine points early in the second half but after eight minutes of play the WARHAWKS lead had gone into the twenties reaching a high of twenty-five 68-43.  At that point, following a technical foul called on their coach, Central rallied hitting three consecutive three point baskets and adding an "and one" three point possession eventually reducing the lead to ten 72-62 with just over four minutes to play. But that's as close as the game would get.

Andre Brown: 16 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists
Rongstad: 15 points (5-8 3pt), 3 rebounds
Pfiefer: 14 points, 5 rebounds
Knobloch: 12 points
Team: 12/5 a/to, 21-8 off of turnovers, 32-24 bench scoring, 54/52 shooting splits

Chris Jones, injured when he was undercut in the Lawrence game, did not play.  Rongstad totaled 40 minutes (15 vs Lawrence, 25 vs Central) in the two games.

As for Pat Miller, I am projecting what I hope for him and the WIAC--we don't need a screaming hyena running the sidelines

I'd pay to see you say that to his face.

Point couldn't defend the 3 point line and takes the home loss to Augustana, 78-76.

Greek Tragedy

We actually defended it better than they did. Play by play shows no one scored from the 2:48 mark to the end of the game. Big win at Hope and then lose to St. Thomas. Big win vs NCC and then lose to Augie.

True that apparently we defended the 3 better...just seemed like anytime in the 2nd half Point got momentum, Augustana would hit a 3.

Both teams shot extremely well from 3.  Often I would blame that on weak defense, but they also shot extremely well from the line, so I think the more likely explanation is they were both simpler hotter than a pistol.  (When undefeated Ramapo handed Salisbury their first loss on Wednesday, some attributed their terrible shooting to great defense, but I pointed out that both ALSO shot below 50% from the charity stripe - to me, at least, the most likely explanation for all the bricks was ice-cold shooting, not great defense.)

A few of those Augie 3s were deep and pretty well defended.

6-6 Brett Benning, a transfer from NCAA D2 power Southern Indiana, is a streaky shooter who can really light it up when he's on.  And he's hard to stop from shooting on the perimeter due to his size.  Benning was 3-5 from beyond the arc today.

UWSP shot above their avg from the line and lights out from three.  Augie has had trouble defending the 3 all year,  as again was the case in the last five seconds up 2 and you give up a wide open three.  All in all a nice road win for a young Augie squad.
