Sun shines in the dogs a$$ every now and then

Maybe you should take that computer of yours and actually watch some games.  La Crosse's victory last night wasn't the "sun shining in the dog's ass."  They're a good team.  The sun, dog's asses and even the blind squirrel had nothing to do with what happened last night.  They're going to win a bunch of games in the league and be in the thick of it come February.

That is why sunscreen is not a big item at PETCO.  I am sure the simile won't win you any fans in LaCrosse.

Speaking of a$$es................

It seems LaCrosse's victory last night was perhaps the moon, rather than the sun, shining up UWW's a$$.  ;)
And, I sense the UWL win has also caused a burr to form in Mr. ST's butt.  ;D
Who's barking now?

I think badgerwarhawk has a pretty good handle on things concerning UWW, and he seems to think UWL's victory was well earned rather than lucky.

BW--I liked your frank assessment of the game. Hope Jones recovers completely. I'm wondering whether WW began to believe the comments about their "inevitability." The loss may make them better.

RF got out shot 47% to 40%, but made 10/12 f.t., got 9 more shots than E.C., and had only 9 t.o.'s.

EC will be in the thick of the battle for the league Championship.

The game was very well refereed by Eckhardt, Drouches, Nelson.

from d3hoops:

From staff reports

UW-Stevens Point men's basketball coach Bob Semling has been suspended for the remainder of the 2016-17 season and the Pointer men's basketball program will be banned from the 2017 postseason as a result of an investigation into practices held before the start of the 2015-16 season.

This is the second set of punishments self-imposed by the university. The program also gave up some preseason practices this year.

Assistant coach Kent Dernbach will coach the team for the remainder of the season. The Pointers are 6-5, 0-1 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

This story will be updated.

UW-Stevens Point Responds to NCAA Allegations

STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point announced today (Jan. 5) that it is taking swift actions in response to major allegations regarding its men's basketball program.  Effective immediately, head men's basketball coach Bob Semling will be suspended from all activities involving UWSP athletics for the remainder of the 2016-17 season.  Current associate head coach Kent Dernbach will serve as interim head coach during the suspension.

UWSP also announced that the men's basketball program will undergo a postseason ban for the 2016-17 season, including the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament.

"As an institution, we feel that it is imperative to take swift and immediate action in response to what we have been informed by the NCAA are major allegations regarding our men's basketball program," stated UWSP Director of Athletics Brad Duckworth.

Link to Media Statement

Semling has coached the Pointers since the 2005-06 season and holds a career record of 262-71.  UWSP is 6-5 this season and will play at UW-La Crosse on Saturday at 5:00 p.m.

Due to the NCAA confidentiality agreement, no further media inquiries or comments will be made beyond today's statement.

MEDIA STATEMENT
____________________________________________________________________________
As an institution, we feel that it is imperative to take swift and immediate action in response to what we have been informed by the NCAA are major allegations regarding our men's basketball program.
Initially we thought these were secondary violations, but we have been informed of four major violations.
Allegation #1: It is alleged that during the 2011-12 through 2015-16 academic years, the men's basketball coaching staff impermissibly directed, observed and engaged men's basketball student-athletes in athletically related activities outside the institution's declared playing seasons.
Allegation #2: It is alleged that in spring semesters between 2012 and 2015, the men's basketball coaching staff impermissibly observed approximately 16 men's basketball prospective student-athletes as they participated with men's basketball student-athletes in activities detailed in allegation #1.
Allegation #3: It is alleged that during the 2011-12 through 2015-16 academic years, Bob Semling did not demonstrate that he promoted an atmosphere for compliance within the men's basketball program due to his personal involvement in the alleged violations.
Allegation #4: It is alleged that between the 2011-12 academic year and the fall 2015, the scope and nature of the violations detailed in Allegations 1 and 2 demonstrate that the institution violated the principle of rules compliance when it failed to adequately monitor the men's basketball program's compliance with NCAA playing and practice seasons and tryout legislation.
Effective immediately, UW-Stevens Point men's basketball head coach Bob Semling will be suspended for the remainder of the 2016-17 season. Additionally, we will undergo a post-
season ban for the men's basketball program for this season, including the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament.
NCAA confidentiality rules prevent us from commenting further on specifics of the investigation at this time. While the investigation phase is complete, the NCAA process continues. We look forward to the day we can comment further. Here is Bylaw 32 of the NCAA rules, which outlines the process and the confidentiality agreement to which all involved are bound.
For the remainder of this season, current UW-Stevens Point associate head coach Kent Dernbach will serve as interim head coach.
Our commitment continues to be our student-athletes and to uphold the integrity of the entire athletics program.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but none of these are actually new allegations from last Springs report (was it spring?).  The NCAA has simply determined these collectively rise to "major violations" vs "minor violations".  Thus immediate action.

Yes, that's how we see it as well.

#2 regarding having recruits play illegal open gyms alongside current players was new news to me, but maybe I just missed it before.

It seems to me like Darron Montgomery, the Athletics Director at the time, should face some kind of sanction as well, but that's not how the NCAA works.

Which just shows even more how outlandish your prediction of Whitewater going undefeated on their way to a National Championship was.....  ::)

You're letting him off easy, Cubs. He also said that it was going to be the greatest D3 team of all time, remember?

Quote from: ShineTime on December 22, 2016, 10:52:39 PM
There is a very good chance whitewater will go unbeaten on the season if they lose it will have to be quick because they won't lose once they get their stud transfer. More than likely going to be best d3 team of all time no need for d when you have 5 guys who can average 20 on any given night.

I don't want it to seem as though I'm piling on, but outrageous claims like that really have to be called out for exactly what they are.

I'll bet that even the implication that this Warhawks squad is going to be the greatest UW-Whitewater D3 team of all time is enough to make BW do a facepalm.
