Good summary.  A few observations:

1) Oshkosh is hoping that Kolf burns down while they are on the road. They have asked Madonna to be the arsonist, she seems so inclined.  They have been good on the WIAC road and inexplicably challenged at home, :-[

2) I saw both the River Falls and Whitewater games at Kolf.  Chris Jones was hot early and got Shinetime U going to a big early lead, but the Titans played them even or better for rest of that game.  The same was not true vs. River Falls.  River Falls is for real and might be the only hope for a second NCAA berth for the WIAC, as I don't see them losing often the rest of the way.  I remain optimistic that the Titans find that road magic and win the WIAC tourney again this year, likely on the road in River Falls. ;)  Unless they crater, the Falcons deserve a bid.  :o

3) It's interesting how the various teams are built--River Falls and Oshkosh substantially all homegrown program kids while Shinetime U is an amalgamation of a few homegrowns but mostly D-1 transfers and multiple JUCO school kids.  I noticed they weren't wearing name tags so they must know each other by now.  :)

Fourteen (Pfeifer, Knobloch, Brown, Ngobi, Brenner, Bryson, VanSchyndel, Turner, Kurash, Jensen, Fitzgerald, Kaminski, LeGault and Sirek)  of the nineteen players on the current WARHAWKS roster have not played in any other program than ours.  That's 74%.  Of the remaining five two (Tyler and Rongstad) transferred from a D1 program.  Both walked on. The remaining three (Cady, Jones and Woodley) transferred from community colleges.

You're making it too easy.  But that happens when you rely on alternative facts.

Those transfers/JUCO players saw a lot of court time last week, 4 of 5 starters I recall.  We can keep going back into prior years as well if you'd like. The schools just have a different philisophy on how to build a D3 team.   Your defensive response looks like it comes from David Axelrod.  :o :o

BTW, I like Van Schyndel.  Should be playing more, hope he gets healthy.  Effective for a guy who probably thought he'd play football.

Greek Tragedy -
I was accused of "lurking" when I gave you a +1 for your work as fantasy commish  ;), so I will do so again here, in the regular forum, for your weekly WIAC updates...
Scooby snack your way!

Transfers - starts - minutes played per game
Rongstad 5 of 8 - 31.1
Tyler 15/17 - 27.4
Cady 0/12 - 4.3
Jones 11/15 - 26.3
Woody 10/16 - 22.7

I think we can all agree that every team has transfers, but it seems like Whitewater relies on them more year in and year out than other teams do. Maybe they are in the spotlight more because Whitewater is always good.

Most teams have had a transfer or 2 come in. It's not that big of a deal and most are not happy where they are. They are not even in the coaches recruiting plan.  I can only imagine. Player- Hey coach, I'm so and so and play at UWM and I'm thinking about transferring? Coach- I'm sorry we don't take transfers! I wouldn't say it's a recruiting plan, but it just happens. With some programs more than others.

GT--I don't know whether you are implying that WW's use of transfers is  somehow a negative, but if you are I disagree. RF starts 3 transfers among 5 on the roster. Players transfer for numerous reasons, including because a girlfriend goes to the school. That's been the case with two very good recent transfers. Another reason is proximity. WW is located in the population/D1 center of the state. A third reason is the reputation of the program, which you mention.

It's not a recruiting plan because, last time I checked, it's against the rules to recruit players enrolled at other schools.

Anyway, according to knightslappy, these may look like the Central Regional rankings...looks good for the WIAC, so far...

http://detroitjockcity.com/division-iii-mens-basketball-regional-rankings-data/

1. River Falls
2. Wash U
3. Whitewater
4. Eau Claire

Exactly! Not in the plan. Well, I believe philosophy was used...

As I said, every team gets their handful of transfers each year. IMO, throughout the years, I think Whitewater relies on them more than other schools. Whether or not that's "bad" is your own opinion. I think there's a little more pride in the program when it succeeds and you can look back and say, "Wow, look what we built." This player came in as a freshman and he leaves an All-Conference, All-American, National Champion.

A loose analogy in professional sports are teams that "buy championships" and those who build through the system.

Soccer's Manchester United prides themselves on the famous "Class of 92" which included David Beckham as their backbone to many of their League titles in the late 90s. Those were all youth players coming up through their academies and they take great pride in that.

I know tranferring is completely legal and I get all the reasons why student athletes transfer. I was a transfer student.

It's just a different way to do things. The "wrong" way? No. Just different.

Herink again the outstanding player for RF:  16 pts., 10 rbds., 6/7 f.t., 2 blocks. Erickson, Buckley, Pearson all had 10. RF ahead by only 2 at half as they shot 29% to Stout's 46%. RF's depth was apparent in the second half.
