ShineTime,

Seriopus question. And I'm not just saying things to say things.

Have you actually attended any Whitewater games or watched them online at all this season?

WARHAWKS (17-3, 6-3): 68
Platteville (8-12, 1-8): 64

Trailing into the last minute and half of the game the WARHAWKS rallied and sank 8 of 8 free throw attempts in the final thirty eight seconds to come from behind and beat the Pioneers 69-64 for their sixth straight win.  The Pioneers got the scoring going and led by as many as six points until Derek Rongstad's five consecutive points gave the WARHAWKS a 17-15 lead eight minutes in.  However the Pioneers quickly regained the lead building to as high as eight points before back to back three pointers from Rongstad and Drew Bryson followed by a layup from Chris Jones gave the WARHAWKS their second lead 31-30 with just over two minutes remaining and by the end of the half the WARHAWKS had increased the lead to 36-32.  Rongstad (3-4 3pt) and Jones (4-7 shots) led with 11 points apiece.  Forcing eleven turnovers while committing just two themselves the WARHAWKS held a 13-3 advantage in points off of them.  The WARHAWKS still led by six three minutes into the second half but the Pioneers went on a 12-0 run and led 42-40 at the twelve minute mark.  The WARHAWKS would manage to get back into a tie 53-53 when Mitchell Pfeiffer scored on a layup with five minutes remaining but the Pioneers quickly regained the lead and held it to there were less than two minutes remaining and Jones's three point play put the WARHAWKS on top 58-57.  But that lead lasted only to Platteville's next possession when Cory Vassen was fouled and made both free throws.  With less than a minute and half to play Demetrius Woodley's layup reestablished the WARHAWKS lead 60-59 and both he and Jones would go 4-4 from the free throw line after that to hold off the Pioneers.

Jones: 26 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals
Rongstad: 14 points, 3 rebounds, 4 steals
Woodley: 11 points, 5 rebounds
Team: 6 turnovers (27-8 scoring), 35-19 from the bench

Substituting for the ill Scotty Tyler intramural walk on Alex LeGault played a career high 26 minutes and responded with 7 points.

Watched the SP/OSH game online and was pleased the announcers weren't totally one sided when it came to their play by play, though I did want to call them and let them know that Bob Semling was not coaching the team last night as was referenced several times.

Well, based on the standings, it was chalk last week (which made the standings what they are, I guess!). River Falls, Oshkosh and Whitewater swept both their games last week. At the other end of the table (soccer term), Stevens Point, La Crosse and Platteville dropped their two games. LaCrosse and Platteville are in the relegation zone. If the standings hold, La Crosse and Platteville will get relegated to the Championship Midwest Conference while St. Norbert and Ripon will be promoted to the Premier League WIAC.

I thought WIAC schools got relegated to UMAC, a la Superior???

They were bad enough to just drop them two divisions. Apparently they won't get promoted anytime soon based on their record.

Greek, I have a few comments re: the above:

1) Don't do that to Shinetime--we all only have so many heartbeats left,  :D

2) I watched the Titans game, sans any PA announcers from Karges, and I swear those were two different teams than I saw about 3 weeks ago in Oshkosh  ???.....the Titans D tightened up significantly and it was an even match, so if they meet in the WIAC bracket, it should be very interesting.  The River Falls loss should allow Shinetime to lobby Dave McHugh to put Transfer U back in the top 5 this week--we all know that is where they inevitably belong.   ::)

AR--exactly. Two different teams from the game at Osh. RF was outshot 36 to 46% in a very hard fought game. Osh looked like the team predicted to win the conference. They held Herink to 0/6 field goals. They denied him the ball inside and he was errant from wherever else he shot. He got few good looks. Seifert had his best game w/16, Pearson a dbl/dbl at 14 pts., 11 rbds.

The conference tightens!

MESSAGE TO RECRUITS:  IN DOUBT? ENROLL AT STOUT. DON'T CARE? GO TO EAU CLAIRE. AT A LOSS? TRY LACROSSE. FEELIN' OUTTA JOINT? YOUR PLACE IS POINT. DON'T LIKE THE REST? DO WHAT'S BEST!

GOT BALLS? PLAY FOR THE FALLS!

It may seem from my above post that I think RF did not play well. No so. They played hard, challenging D, but so did Osh. It was a good college bb game.

Well if there was any doubt whitewater is capable of winning the national championship I think they proved it today.  That was as impressive a win as you will see in the wiac

Stout (13-8, 4-6): 48
WARHAWKS (18-3, 7-3): 83

The Blue Devils opened the scoring and held a brief lead briefly before the WARHAWKS hit five of their first seven shots including four three point baskets and held a 14-7 lead four and half minutes into the game.  That lead reached double figures for the rest of the game around the nine and half minute mark and reached a high of seventeen, 32-15, before the half ended 38-24.  Six different WARHAWKS accounted for seven successful three point baskets.  Chris Jones and Demetrius Woodley each scored 8 points to lead the WARHAWKS who got 14 points from the bench and converted 7 offensive rebounds into 13 points.  Stout was led by John Lahti's 9 points.  Stout got to within twelve points 47-35 four and half minutes into the second half  but the WARHAWKS responded with a 17-2 run to go up 64-37 and Stout got hung up on 39 points for over five minutes which pushed the WARHAWKS lead to a game high forty points 79-39.

Jones: 17 points, 4 rebounds, 5 assists
Mitchell Pfeifer: 12 points (4-6 3pt), 4 steals
Woodley: 8 points, 5 rebounds
Marquis Turner: 8 points, 2 rebounds, block
Cole VanSchyndel: 8 points, 2 rebounds, steal
Team: 49.1/48.3/70.8 shooting, 48 bench points

If Chris Jones transfers to UW-Milwaukee for 2017/18, that would help UWM in the Horizon League.  ;)
