Middleton 6'4" Forward, Ben Jackson, is Whitewater's first known recruit for this class.

Good luck to the WIAC teams today. Whitewater should be a heavy favorite over Northwestern while Oshkosh is the dog vs Hope. River Falls is a slight favorite over Bethel.

The big game is Oshkosh v Hope. It's a tough matchup for anyone, but I'm sure the committee is really pulling for Oshkosh to prove they made the right decision putting a .630 win % team in the tourney. Us WIACers will really hear it from the CCIWers if Oshkosh loses since I'm sure a few of them think IWU should be in the tourney.

I hope they checked with St. Norbert about that... Whitewater won't be any heavier a favorite than SNC was last year... and Northwestern won that one.

I think Rubber Balls is more than a slight favorite against Bethel. While I think that Bethel is a good ball club, to my mind, if they win in RF tonight, it would be a stunning upset. RF is really, really good. The d3hoops.com tournament preview has them losing the Championship game.

Massey predicts a 3 point win for UWO FWIW.  I'm looking forward to what I expect will be a really tight game in a packed house of 3000+.  Gotta love tournament time!  Also look forward to the chance to meet any WIAC posters who might be making the trip over to Holland.

I'm sure that a lot of us don't, too. According to both Drew Pasteur's graph and the three analysts who did the mock selection on Hoopsville (one of whom, I need not remind you, was Titan Q), Mount St. Joseph was the logical alternative to UWO. I wouldn't have been surprised if Moravian graded out ahead of IWU with the committee, too, although I'm suspicious about the idea that Ohio Wesleyan would've been picked ahead of their Wesleyan counterparts from the Land of Lincoln, given that the Titans beat the Battling Bishops head-to-head.

Here's Massey's take on the three games involving WIAC teams:

UW-River Falls 77, Bethel 68 (UWRF 79%, BU 21%)
UW-Whitewater 78, Northwestern 65 (UWW 89, UN 67%)
UW-Oshkosh 73, Hope 69 (UWO 65%, HC 35%)

The last one you have is if it were a neutral site game, but Hope is hosting, so Massey actually predicts UW-Oshkosh 72, Hope 69 (UWO 60%, HC 40%)

I sense you would have to look long and hard to find any CCIWers who don't usually dress in green that think IWU should be in the tournament.

If they wanted to go to the Big Dance, they could have done what North Central, who they went 0-2 against, did and qualified for the conference tourney, and then won it. NCC did it. Why couldn't IWU?

And let's say UWO wasn't selected. Do we have proof beyond any reasonable doubt that IWU would have been selected had UNO not been, or is there some possibility that a different team would have gotten the nod?

There's a saying about what happens to those who don't study history. It probably should be a class at UWSP.

How on earth is this a fair comment in any way, Pat? Are you accusing UWSP players of something, either past or present? Because student athletes are the ones who take courses and who study, not coaches or administrators.

Unless you haven't reported on some wrongdoing by players, then I must implore you to leave us, UWSP players past and present, out of the discussion concerning any NCAA violations. Maybe you just meant it as a joke, but nobody (except yourself?) is laughing.

Further, UWSP fans, myself included, have allowed the story to wane, enabling the spotlight to turn towards other deserving teams this season. We've also had to suffer through back-to-back double-digit loss seasons for the first time since 1995, a team missing the NCAA tournament for the second consecutive year (though only the third time in the last 14), a WIAC tournament ban, and the continued suspension of a head coach who has one of the (if not the) highest winning percentage of active coaches.

The future of the program continues to be in jeopardy as we wait for word from the NCAA.

So, while it hasn't been discussed at length recently, don't take it to mean that it isn't on the hearts and minds of a bunch of fans.

Sorry John, but I kind of got a little "snicker" out of it....

I took it as UWSP had "issues" when it came to practice in the past, and history appears to have repeated itself....
