Greek Tragedy

I'm sure he's planning on returning, but that doesn't mean the school is planning on that. It's going to be a long wait...Congrats to the Point high school team for making it back to the championship game for the 3rd year in a row. Quite a surprise considering who they lost last year.

But they still have arguably one of the best (if not the best) player in the State in Joey Hauser....  Had he not been recovering from an injury sustained in football, SPASH likely has a fraction of the losses.

Anytime you have the best player in the State on your team, it shouldn't be a surprise to see a successful team as long as there is still some talent on the rest of the roster.

The best in the state?  Kobe King, of La Crosse Central, schooled him when the teams played this year.  King blocked two of Hauser's shots, despite giving up four inches.  John Gard was present, and was satisfied with UW recruit King's progress.

I don't it was Greg given the BADGERS were sort of busy elsewhere today.

Must have missed the "one of the best" part of my statement?

I'm not sure I would go as far as saying King "schooled" him that night anyway....  Hauser still put up 24 points/9 rebounds/6 assists in a losing effort.  Not bad for a guy who still had only been playing for less than a month as he recovered from an ankle injury during football season.

Anyway, Hauser look great on the big stage last night in the D1 Championship game last night as he put up 32 points, 21 rebounds and 4 assists in SPASH's dismantling of Arrowhead.  I would really like to see him join King in two years at Madison, but I have a funny feeling that won't be happening.

He was talking about a Tuesday night in February, so I'm guessing it was probably Greg Gard....

I had heard Hauser was verbally unofficially offered a scholarship to Marquette when his brother committed. Take that for what it's worth.

Nothing unofficial....  He has been offered by Marquette among others.

Then it was likely Jeff Gard...

The accolades keep coming for Alex Herink as he was named to the D3hoops.com 2017 All American second team.  Herink was the only WIAC athlete named.  Congrats

it appears uwsp is content with only getting nate dodge for next year.  He must be all they need to get back to the top of wiac where they belong.

If Nate Dodge was playing for any other team in the Conference, you would be touting him as one of the best players ever in the conference.  It would only make sense, you did that for Rongstad, who was a walkon at Milwaukee.  Dodge was a scholarship player for Army.

La Crosse has zero public commits thus far, Whitewater has 1.  There are a ton of players still waiting to make commitments.  The coaching situation needs to play out for UWSP before recruiting can get some momentum, show some patience.

Zack Geodeke has a little brother who made All State this year, I'd bet there is a better than average chance of him becoming a Pointer.  He looks more like a football player than he does a basketball player.

As I say La Crosse hasn't had any public commitments...6'6" Madison Memorial F, Matt Caropreso, will play at La Crosse.
