tomt4525--well analyzed account! I did not include it because I couldn't re-construct it. Did not see whether Heidecker's tip was an attempt to keep the ball alive or a true tip attempt. Witt actually got 18, not 21. Despite good D pressure, UMD had 9 t.o., RF had 8. There was concern about replacing Pearson, but Witt answered that question emphatically.

After watching Witt a handful of times last year, I thought he'd do atleast an adequate job of replacing Pearson.  He's a good athlete that seems to be in the right spot, he's a tad undersized for a 4 but makes up for it with his strength.  The frontline will be the strength of the Falcon team.  As far as replacing Erickson, I didn't see much from the guards yesterday.  They played solid defense but didn't look to do much offensively.  I believe the guards will need to be more offensive threats for the Falcons to repeat.  Season is almost here, we will see what happens.

Stout is currently beating up on Wisconsin at the Kohl Center...just kidding. But it's only 41-28.

Happ finished with just 2 points in 22 minutes on 0-0 shooting from the field.   Huh?

I see that Ryan Clarey has surfaced at Carroll.  I wondered what happened to him along with David Pulizos in the 2016 recruiting class for Whitewater.  He was a highly recruited player that committed to Whitewater early.

The WARHAWKS will scrimmage Carroll on Saturday.  Unfortunately my football duties will cause me to miss it.

Hey Badger,

Any word on why Demetrius Woodley didn't return? Do you know if he's playing anywhere else?

No, I don't have any information.  I thought he was practicing the day I went but I must have mistaken someone else for him.

The Pointer purple/gold game is tonight.  I hope someone can make it to Quandt and post their observations. I checked the TV listings and I don't see it on ESPN Ocho's schedule.

I ended up listening to the Purple/Gold game on the radio last night.  Not close to the same as watching it live but I can give a couple observations.

First off, bad news....Bublitz and Delmore sat out last night.  Bublitz was in a boot and is still getting checked over for the exact prognosis.  They don't know how long he will be out.  Delmore got hit in the face in practice and got a bunch of stitches in the mouth.  He's currently on a liquid diet but should be back soon it would seem.

As for the game....Dodge seemed like the leading scorer, I didn't get exact totals but he had to have around 20.  He hit around 4-5 3's as well.  The announcers were very complimentary of all the bigs last night.  Tauber was more assertive looking for shots.  O'Heron filled the lane for a few easy buckets.  Koerner, Spray and Ehrke all hit multiple shots from the outside.  It is good to see that they are all making strides because they needed to with Geodeke not coming back for his senior season.

From the sounds of it, Songolo was a little nervous for his first half as a Pointer but really settled in for the 2nd half.  He played solid defense with some steals, hit a shot or two and had some nice drives.  From the announcers talk, Garrett Nelson stole the show the last 10 minutes of the game.  I can't count how many times they said that Point fans are going to love him.  He's undersized but very quick.  It seems as though he has earned some minutes as a freshman.  Mark Nelson was his typical self.  He hit some shots, drove to the hoop well and got the ball to the open man.  Fredrickson had a little bit of an off night shooting but will be counted on heavily. Knez seemed to really defer to the upperclassmen but seems to be more comfortable this season.  He looked for a shot often and from watching him in high school, I know he plays tough D.  It seems like this year Point will have a deep team that can kind of ride the hot hand.

I'll take a stab at a rotation but I'm never close to what Semling puts on the court...so take it with a grain of salt.  I won't include Bublitz as I'm not sure when he will return.

Starters
Tauber, Dodge, M Nelson, Delmore, Fredrickson

Bench Players who will see consistent time
O'Heron, Koerner, Ehrke, Spray, Songolo, G Nelson, Knez and Zuiker

I'll say this with Zuiker, he's great on the offensive end but has always struggled on the defensive side.  I can't get a good feel if he's improved on that end from listening on the radio but I'll include him in the rotation for now.  I've included a large rotation because, like I said, I think Semling can kind of ride the hot hand and a lot of guys will get a chance...I think that's true, especially in the post.

I forgot to mention that the announcers did verify that UWSP beat Duluth in the scrimmage...in all 3 "halves"

Listening to an intra-squad basketball game on the radio is whole new level of depressing.
