Wow...embarrassing loss today. Wtf

Thanks for the compliment! Point holds on 75-69.

Point was up 75-62 with just 23 seconds to go, but Whitewater score 7 points to make it interesting. Embarrassing loss for sure. Point didn't deserve the win or it's 5-0 conference record, even though they beat River Falls on the road and Whitewater lost to them at home.

I'm surprised by you not giving your guys the credit they deserve.  From where I sat it appeared they deserved to win last night.

You missed the sarcasm. I was commenting on 02warhawk's take on the game...which was a little ridiculous.

Yes, that went about a mile over my head.

1. Point 5-0 vs. Platteville; at Osh
2. Platte 4-1 at Point, at WW
3. Osh 3-2 at EC, vs Point
3. WW 3-2 at LaX, vs Platte
5. RF 2-3 vs Stout, at EC
5. LaX 2-3 vs WW, at Stout
7. Stout 1-4 at RF, vs LaX
8. EC 0-5 vs. Osh, vs RF

Very interesting week coming up before we hit the halfway point in the WIAC schedule:

1. Point could go up a full three games on the field if they win out and all of the chips fall in the right way. Or they could find themselves tied with or even trailing by a game to Platteville.
2. Platteville could take or share first, or they could drop all the way down to a 5th place tie.
3. Oshkosh and Whitewater are already two games back. Both need help if they want to catch Point. But in doing so, they likely would create a logjam atop the conference at 5-2 with Point, Platte, Osh, and WW all tied.
5. RF is three back. They just need to right the ship. Lucky for them, they're playing the #7 and #8 teams in the league.
5. LaX just knocked off RF, but they're still 3 games back and have to play Whitewater.
7 & 8. At best, Stout and EC can play spoiler, and that's about it.

WIAC regular season champ - 4 losses or less ?

Interesting to bring up at this point given River Falls and Lacrosse at 2-3.

After this Saturday could be looking at a 4 team race if Whitewater and Stout can get road wins (heavy task)

Platteville - Stevens Point should be a great atmosphere Saturday

That's a really interesting question! After the departure of superior with 14 League games instead of 16, generally it should be more likely that the champion has fewer losses simply because there are fewer games. I haven't looked at the numbers lately, but the champion has generally probably been at about three losses or less. The league does seem very competitive, so perhaps this would be one of those years where it would rise to four. Back in 2000 - 2001, there was a three-way tie between point, Whitewater, and Oshkosh with five losses.

Last year, RF won with two losses. 2 years ago LAX won it with 4 losses. Three and four years ago was just one loss for SP/WW and SP.

The next two games will go a long way towards fleshing out the prediction this season.

Well, you never know in the WIAC, but on paper it looks like Platteville at Point is the biggest game. The other "Big 3" should win their games based on the standings. The Titans travel to Eau Claire, the Eagles host Whitewater and River Falls entertains the Blue Devils. We obviously can't completely disregard those teams though. Platteville heads to Quandt on the heels of an impressive win over Oshkosh, while the Pointers shocked the Warhawks in Southeast Wisconsin. It doesn't get any easier for the Pioneers as their next four games will determine if they are contenders or pretenders: at Point, at Whitewater, vs Stout, at Oshkosh. Point heads to Oshkosh midweek.

I'm a little disappointed that Point continues to have their games so late. I guess that's what I get for working Sundays for double-time. I saw the other 3 games have 5 pm tip-offs and that would allow me time to head to Point and get back at a decent hour before waking up at the crack of dawn for Sunday work. Yeah, yeah, I used to do that back in the day, but that was before I was married with a kid...and I was 10-15 years younger. I suppose now I can lock the kid in his bedroom with some juice and a box of Goldfish for 6 hours and watch an out of conference game at 3, a WIAC game at 5 and the Pointer at 7...

I always preferred playing at 7. Something just didn't seem right playing earlier.
