2018 F Finley Schumacher (6-6) of Waukesha West has committed to play college basketball at Whitewater next season.

2018 G Noah Hanson (6-2) of Eau Claire North has committed to UW-River Falls.

And....Point sure laid an egg tonight.  Too much dribbling and standing around offensively.  Biggest game for the Pointers in a couple years, and it showed that their still have inexperience in those situations.

Stout parlays 5 turnovers, and 57% three shooting into an 82-81 win over RF. Elliot hits 6/9 threes for 25 points to lead Stout. Stout makes 16 threes. Mackey hits a wide open jump shot to win it for Stout. Herink leads RF with 22.

Not sure anybody in the conference would have beaten Stout tonight. I would think that was their best game this season. RF shot 47% and out rebounded Stout 43-20, but missed many key free throws.

I'm not sure that gives Platteville enough credit. They were really tough on defense.  SP did miss some open shots but Pville kept Point from doing a lot of what they wanted to.

I didn't see the game, and as much as I wanted the wins to keep coming, I can't get too bent out of shape on this one. It was 48-44 late, so we still had our chances. We beat a higher ranked River Falls on the road and a higher ranked Whitewater on the road. Platteville was two games up on Oshkosh and Whitewater, so they are obviously doing something right. Let's move on and finish strong. The good news is that IWU, NCC, River Falls and Whitewater lost as well.

P-ville made SP work for every shot and forced a few shot clock violations.  SP also got a huge dose of Quinton Shields he came off the bench and scored 21 points  and grabbed many key rebounds. Platteville's at EC this weekend then finish up with WW and RF at home so they still have their work cut out for them.

Standings

   1 (tie breaker)      #9 Platteville      9-2      19-3
   1      #18 Stevens Point      9-2      15-7
   3      #21 Oshkosh      7-4      17-5
   4      #19 Whitewater      6-5      16-6
   5      River Falls      5-6      14-7
   6 (tie breaker)      Eau Claire      3-8      11-11
   6      La Crosse      3-8      11-11
   8      Stout      2-9      8-14

Someone check me on this, but I think this is right:

Platteville currently has the tie-breaker over Stevens Point by virtue of SP's loss to Oshkosh.
Eau Claire currently has the tie-breaker over La Crosse because of their win over Oshkosh.

Incredibly interesting next week and a half. Both Point and Platteville have two home games and both travel to Eau Claire, who is clinging to the #6 spot in the conference tournament.
Both teams host a foe which they lost to in the first round of play.

Platteville (19-3; 9-2)
2/10 @ Eau Claire (won 74-64)
2/14 vs. Whitewater (won 84-67)
2/17 vs. River Falls (lost 84-91)

Stevens Point (15-7; 9-2)
2/10 vs. Stout (won 68-65)
2/14 vs. Oshkosh (lost 53-68)
2/17 @ Eau Claire (won 70-61)

It will be interesting to see how the top 3 teams in the preseason WIAC polls (UWRF, UWW, UWO) will ultimately play a huge roll in deciding the champion in what is essentially a 2 team race at this point. Will the champion have to go 3-0 in the last 3 games? Or is 2-1 going to be good enough? UWSP in search of banner number 30 and UWP in search of number 20.
