Standings

   1 (tie breaker)      #9 Platteville      9-2      19-3
   1      #18 Stevens Point      9-2      15-7
   3      #21 Oshkosh      7-4      17-5
   4      #19 Whitewater      6-5      16-6
   5      River Falls      5-6      14-7
   6 (tie breaker)      Eau Claire      3-8      11-11
   6      La Crosse      3-8      11-11
   8      Stout      2-9      8-14

Someone check me on this, but I think this is right:

Platteville currently has the tie-breaker over Stevens Point by virtue of SP's loss to Oshkosh.
Eau Claire currently has the tie-breaker over La Crosse because of their win over Oshkosh.

Incredibly interesting next week and a half. Both Point and Platteville have two home games and both travel to Eau Claire, who is clinging to the #6 spot in the conference tournament.
Both teams host a foe which they lost to in the first round of play.

Platteville (19-3; 9-2)
2/10 @ Eau Claire (won 74-64)
2/14 vs. Whitewater (won 84-67)
2/17 vs. River Falls (lost 84-91)

Stevens Point (15-7; 9-2)
2/10 vs. Stout (won 68-65)
2/14 vs. Oshkosh (lost 53-68)
2/17 @ Eau Claire (won 70-61)

It will be interesting to see how the top 3 teams in the preseason WIAC polls (UWRF, UWW, UWO) will ultimately play a huge roll in deciding the champion in what is essentially a 2 team race at this point. Will the champion have to go 3-0 in the last 3 games? Or is 2-1 going to be good enough? UWSP in search of banner number 30 and UWP in search of number 20.

HS2020
Who gets the banner regular season or tourney champs? I've got a feeling that RF, WW and Osh will have plenty to say who the WIAC AQ will be.

Regular season champs will hang a banner, so if the season ended today before games started, UWP and UWSP would both put a banner on the wall. Then you can also hang a banner if you win the tournament. So really you can hang a banner for both. And yes I agree, really anybody could end up winning the conference tournament. Some teams will also hang another banner based on where they finish/qualify for the NCAA tournament.

Standings

   1      #18 Stevens Point      10-2      16-7
   3      #21 Oshkosh      8-4      18-5
   4      #19 Whitewater      6-6      16-7
   4 (tiebreaker)      River Falls      6-6      14-7
   6 (tie breaker)      Eau Claire      3-9      11-12
   6      La Crosse      3-9      11-12
   8      Stout      2-10      8-15

Think this is right:

Platteville currently has the tie-breaker over Stevens Point by virtue of SP's loss to Oshkosh.
River Falls currently has the tie-breaker over Whitewater because of their sweep of WW.
Eau Claire currently has the tie-breaker over La Crosse because of their win over Oshkosh.

Oshkosh needs to wins AND two losses by both SP and Platte for a share of the title. They can help their own cause Wednesday in Point.

Platteville (20-3; 10-2)
2/10 @ Eau Claire (won 74-64) Annihilated EC by 37
2/14 vs. Whitewater (won 84-67) WW has lost 4/6
2/17 vs. River Falls (lost 84-91) RF had lost 3/4 before competing sweep of WW

Stevens Point (16-7; 10-2)
2/10 vs. Stout (won 68-65) Won 80-64
2/14 vs. Oshkosh (lost 53-68) Osh has won 5/6 since two game losing streak in late January
2/17 @ Eau Claire (won 70-61) Can EC make the WIAC tournament? Vs RF and Point, while LaX has Stout and WW

Just the stats

It looks like 5 of the 6 conference playoff berths are set with Platteville clinching a first-round bye, Stevens Point needing one win or one Oshkosh loss to get a bye, and Oshkosh, River Falls, Whitewater in. La Crosse, Eau Claire and Stout all have a shot at the #6 spot. Should be one interesting last week!

Take it easy, FF. I based the statement on league standings going into the game and current D3hoops rankings. That's all...

How high can they go...

Where do you think Platteville will be ranked? They were #9 and won twice this week and the following teams above them lost:

#3 Wittenberg
#4 Whitworth
#5 Middlebury (twice)
#7 York
#8 Williams

My guess is that St. Johns moves to #3.
Can Platteville move up to #4?

Whitworth may not even drop. They lost to #1 Whitman by 1. Point lost to higher-ranked Platteville on the road, they might not drop much, if at all.

2nd Regional Rankings come out tomorrow.

1. Wash U - won at Brandeis, won at NYU
2. Platteville - won v UWSP, won at UWEC
3. Augustana - won at NCC, won at Millikin
4. Stevens Point - lost at UWP, won v UWSt
5. IWU - lost v Wheaton, won v Carroll
6. Oshkosh - won at Whitewater, won v UWL
7. River Falls - lost at Stout, won v UWWW
8. NCC lost v Augustana

I'm guessing the top 3 will stay the same. Point should stay ahead of IWU as they both lost, though Point's loss was "better"?

Oshkosh could very well jump IWU, while River Falls should stay ahead of NCC. NCC's only game was a loss, but to a regionally ranked opponent.

Wheaton, who wasn't ranked last week got two wins, one big one on the road at IWU. Could they jump in over NCC or even River Falls? Maybe they jump to 7 and River Falls moves to 8 and NCC looking in from the outside.
