Bublitz - played in one game

River Falls loses their top two scorers and rebounders in Herink and Witt, and also loses a 3rd starter in Buckley.

Whitewater returns their top 7 players and that doesn't include Scotty Tyler, who only played 5 games. I don't know if there's any possibility of a return of Chris Jones.

I suppose the good news is that Fort Wayne, Indiana is 7 1/2 hours closer than Salem, Virginia, if anyone cares!

I was looking at that exact thing recently.  The WIAC is going to be loaded next year.  It wouldn't shock me to see 3 in the preseason top 10 along with a 4th(Whitewater) in the top 25.  Like normal, the conference schedule for the WIAC will be a gauntlet.

Greek Tragedy

As a WIAC fan, I am very happy that Oshkosh made the Final (obviously winning it all would've been better) and that Platteville got to the Sweet 16 (though losing at home hurts, even if it was to the eventual National Champion). I say this because it seems the WIAC has a history of flaming out early and often if it wasn't Stevens Point or Whitewater (post-Bo Ryan Platteville era, of course). Too many times teams like La Crosse, River Falls, and Stout have made the tourney only to be sent packing in the 1st weekend. In fact, when Stevens Point or Whitewater don't win the Walnut and Bronze, they seem to be sent packing early as well.

Congrats to the UWO Titans on a great run. I hope you know alumni far and wide are proud!

And Gregory Sager...what a fine memory you have! I've always enjoyed your perspective and historical knowledge. I still lurk from time to time during the season to keep up with the WIAC, once a basketball junkie, always a basketball junkie.

Greek Tragedy

I'm starting with 2000. 1998 and 1999 was the end of the Bo Ryan era with Platteville winning titles in both years. I apologize to the other WIAC teams. Whitewater and Point had some real clunkers as well, but I guess having 6 National Championships between them helps.

I forgot to mention this on the recap show, but will slide it in on Hoopsville this week... sadly, Oshkosh allowed an interesting record run to end. The previous six teams to knock Augustana out of the NCAAs... went on to win the national title. It now stands at 12 of the last 17 as well.

Whitman's streak is still alive, though, NWU made it three champions in a row to knock them out of the tournament.

I understand your point about go big or go home, but wow the WIAC does go big when it gets to the Final Four. The league is 18-2 when it hits Salem.

... and 27-5 overall in the D3 Final Four, which isn't too shabby, either.
