Not current UWO players, but I was told two players from Illinois he was recruiting have now committed to Wash U.

One player seems possible, but two...

Coach Juckem did get a commitment just after the announcement from Justin Hardy who is a teammate of another player who is headed to Oshkosh.  This was mentioned in an article about Hardy and references two Illinois Oshkosh recruits.

That's a lot of 32s on ACTs!

I'll be honest, Washington University does not have that many students walking around with a 32 ACT.

You have to consider all the students with a 33, 34, 35 or 36 on the ACT.

WaHooWa

Some quick cursory research on Wash U academic requirements...

33 ACT is average (32 would make you 25th percentile, 34 would make you 75th percentile)

Average SAT: 1510 (out of 1600)

Average GPA on a 4.0 scale:  4.11

Even with those marks:  Acceptance rate is 17%

FYI, UWO:

22 ACT is average

Acceptance rate is 80.3%

For what it is worth, schools such as Oshkosh are incredibly important institutions and it is a shame that Wisconsin no longer supports the system schools on a level commensurate with their impact.

By the way, I had this conversation with another poster about this...

The WIAC is interesting in that every institution is public and every state salary is part of the public record.  I looked this up and was surprised to see that most WIAC schools pay around $65,000-75,000 but Whitewater pays way more.

It could come down to the accounting and the way an institution packages camps and such, but it seems unlikely that camps and other benefits come close to making up the difference.

Is that across the board in all sports? Last football salary roundup I saw showed Leipold at 6 figures and everyone else in the range you suggest, but that Warhawk football program generates some actual revenue. Are you saying a similar disparity exists in basketball?

WUPHF

I did only look at basketball head coaches.

If I remember correctly, the gap between the lowest and highest paid head basketball coaches was around $30-35K.

The average ACT score on the WashU basketball team last season was a 33.  Just average joes.

Coach Juckem did get a commitment just after the announcement from Justin Hardy who is a teammate of another player who is headed to Oshkosh.  This was mentioned in an article about Hardy and references two Illinois Oshkosh recruits.

Just knowing how the admissions process works at WashU, Justin Hardy must have been interested in WashU well before the coaching decision was made.  Maybe Juckem sealed the deal.

Greek Tragedy

Am I the only who finds it interesting that we really haven't heard anything from Oshkosh? The only article they have is the same one Washington U posted.

I thought there would be a " Coach Juckem has resigned to take the Wash U job. We thank him for his time and wish him luck..." There really wasn't anything from Juckem thanking Oshkosh for the opportunity etc. Maybe Oshkosh really felt like they got burned here or Juckem wasn't real happy at Oshkosh. Obviously speculation.

There have been twitter niceties from both parties.

One of the articles I read said that Hardy was considering Washington University along with Saint Cloud State and Hillsdale before the hire and that he made the decision after hearing about the hire and talking to his teammate who is headed to Oshkosh.

Gentlemen,

This is the other Wash U recruit from Illinois. Its not (at least to this point) either Hardy's teammate from St. Charles East or the Oshkosh commit from Batavia, IL.

WASH U RECRUIT

Kam Mack of Jacobs HS in Algonquin, IL Has committed to Wash U.
Mack, a SG in HS, probably projects as a wing or true SF in college. He is 6'6" and weights in at 180.
He had narrowed his choices to WU, Augustana, and IL Wesleyan.
12.1 PPG
4.4 RPG
44.8 FG%
31.4 3 PT%

The post was regarding two players that Coach Juckem was recruiting who may have committed to Washington University.

Not that it matters, but I do not see any indication that Coach Juckem recruited either Mack or Hardy, though it is certainly possible.  As your own post suggests, Mack was not considering Oshkosh.
