The fallout from that was, as expected, immediate and vociferous. Gibson quickly apologized:

... which would've been the end of it, except that in a videotaped interview with an American reporter in Lithuania who was covering the story, Gibson confessed that he really did, in fact, miss having access to Miller Lite.

I just found that amusing, for all sorts of reasons.

That is awesome!  And, Europe has great beer, but I would not be surprised if the beer in the Baltics is rather boring.

Gregory Sager

Even boring Baltic beer has to be better than Miller Lite.

Heck, even a sharp stick in the eye is better than Miller Llite.

To be fair though, he did say American beer.  He may have been referring to Point or Leinenkugel's.  Those beers are pretty good.  Not as good as the brewery in Amherst, but that brewery is relatively new.

In the live interview he specifically mentioned Miller Lite.

Even if he was joking, no excuses explain that away.  Bleh.

I'm pretty sure that he was in total earnest when he said that.

(Incidentally, has anyone ever gone to UW-Stout's basketball page and clicked on the link to "Coach Eddie Andrist's Personal Page"? It's under "Basketball Links" on the "Additional Links" drop-down. It's hilarious!)

Melvin Brown's 47 points against the Pioneers  last night broke the program's single game scoring record of 45 set by Scotty Tyler (vs Ripon) in 2016.  Brown was 18 of 26 including 4 of 4 from beyond the arc and 7 of 9 from the charity stripe.  Brown also pulled down 12 rebounds for his third double-double of the season.

Congrats to Brown. A great accomplishment. Glad he did not do it vs. Falcons.

It's obvious Gibson has not tasted Hamm's beer. 30 cans for 12 bucks or so. Remember, it's not the taste but the buzz that matters!

Wow. Very impressive! Congrats. Not bad considering the whole Point team could only muster 13 more points than Brown.

6'6" Eau Claire Memorial F, Nathan Hau, has committed to play at UWEC.  Was getting interest from other WIAC teams along with St Norbert.  Is a solid start for the Blugolds.
