That is what I was thinking.

Platteville has to be the best 8-loss(+) team in the nation.  Ranked No. 35 by Massey.

Biggest answer, not surprisingly, in the story on our website.

1) The story has been edited. When I originally read the story, that information was not added. There's no indication on the headline on the main page that the story has updated. Plus, Dave already linked to the story.
2) The news article includes video from the press conference, which is in addition to the d3sports.com coverage.

Gotcha. By the time you made your post, the update had long since happened. As in once we could get someone from UWSP on the phone.

Wasn't an intentional snub by any means! I totally support you guys and the exposure you've given our sport in particular and DIII in general for he last 20 years!

Your coverage of this (from my perspective) tough situation was very thorough. While there were some parts that I didn't agree with, it was the facts in the case, not the reporting that I had issues with. You and Dave did right by DIII and ultimately by Stevens Point in the whole affair.

Well ... let's give that through Thursday night ... I am sure I will screw it up on the show. LOL

I am kidding. We do plan to have segments dedicated to the story in what will be an extended show as a result. We are still finalizing our guests and such.

Thanks. It's always our goal to do right by the subject matter, even when schools, coaches or the association itself throw up roadblocks.

Greek Tragedy

Platteville and Oshkosh going OT  at 73 apiece.

Platteville had a 5-point lead with 3 and change left. Oshkosh took the lead late and Platteville hit a 3 with 11 seconds to go to tie it.

Greek Tragedy

Oshkosh escaped 83-81 as Duax misses a 3-pointer with one second left. La Crosse isn't as fortunate as they lose at River Falls. Point hammers Whitewater.

I watched the tail end of the Platteville-Oshkosh webcast.  What a fun ball game, and stony bunch of competitors from both sides, but especially Oshkosh.  Ben Boots had an off shooting night, but man, is he a nice PG.

"If anything here offends, I beg your pardon. I come in peace, I depart in gratitude." ;)

Greek Tragedy

Assuming Oshkosh wins the AQ, the WIAC could see themselves as a 1-bid league. I didn't dive into the numbers much, but I'm a little surprised to see both Wheaton and NCC ranked ahead of La Crosse. La Crosse, as we know, lost last night and Point won. It wasn't all doom and gloom though. Both Wheaton and NCC lost as well. It's going to be an uphill battle as Point and La Crosse still have Oshkosh on their remaining schedule. Point also has Stout and Platteville remaining. La Crosse has Eau Claire and Stout. Since we're talking Pool C here, Point and La Crosse will have at least one more loss each (presumably in the conference tournament). With Oshkosh yet to lose in conference play, I don't see both Point and La Crosse getting Pool C bids. And it's entirely possible neither gets one.

Thursday night's Hoopsville will be an extended version of the show to cover both the conclusion of the UW Stevens Point men's basketball investigation and our normal programming this time of the season.

The show will begin with continuing coverage of the UW Stevens Point case that finally wrapped up after more than three-and-a-half years. Athletics Director Brad Duckworth will join us for an exclusive, in-depth, interview about the case, the findings, the punishments, and what it all means for UWSP and the basketball program.

We will then shift into what would be a normal Hoopsville episode talking to teams that are making headlines in the final month of the season. Not only are teams surging, but with Regional Rankings now out the focus on who may be in or may be out of the NCAA Tournament starts to come into focus.

In the WBCA Center Court segment, Dave will also talk with a women's assistant coach who is turning heads not only in the program, but also in the conference and around the country.

Hoopsville is presented by D3hoops.com and airs from the WBCA/NABC Studio. You can watch Thursday's extended show starting at 7:00 p.m. ET here: http://bit.ly/2SyWv6X (or video Facebook Live and Periscope simulcasts).

Greek Tragedy

Whitewater (3-8) at Stout (0-11)
The Warhawks make the long trip to Menomonie hoping to stay ahead of River Falls for that last conference playoff spot. They smoked the Blue Devils earlier, but it can be a tough games after sitting on a bus for so long. The Blue Devils want to finally get a W in the left column in conference play.

Platteville (6-5) at River Falls (3-8)
Platteville tries to keep pace with Eau Claire but it won't be a cake walk in River Falls. The Pioneers did win by 10 at home in their last matchup, but the Falcons just upset La Crosse, so anything can happen. River Falls is fighting for that last tournament spot with Whitewater, so they'll try to carry over the momentum from the La Crosse win.

Eau Claire (6-5) at La Crosse (8-3)
The Eagles try to rebound from their shock loss to the Flacons. The conference championship is  now out of reach, but they still have a Pool C spot to fight for. They smoked Eau Claire up at Zorn, but the Blugolds have won 3 in a row now. The Blugolds are not only in solid playoff position for the conference tournament, they have a chance to host a 1st round game too.

Stevens Point (7-4) at Oshkosh (11-0)
A definite must-win for Point at Kolf. Their Pool C bid is hanging by a thread and getting a win against a regionally ranked opponent will do wonders. Oshkosh is in cruise control and clinched at least a share of the WIAC title already. They'll want to put their rivals out of their misery, so no going light tomorrow.

A side note here: interesting to read that, despite being the #2 regionally ranked team in the Central, in all likelihood, Oshkosh will not host a first weekend pod. I hope someone else, like Point, can take advantage of that!

It probably wouldn't happen that way. The Oshkosh hosting pod wouldn't get transferred to Stevens Point -- it would get transferred to someone else in the Oshkosh pod. (And hopefully the 3 or 4 team in the pod so that the second-best team in the pod doesn't get the advantage of hosting and parlay that into an upset win.)

I understand they aren't going to just move a whole pod to Stevens Point. Obviously its very unlikely that Point and Oshkosh would even be in the same pod (moving the whole pod if Point was in the same one as Oshkosh). But, aren't pods partially influenced on who can host, who submitted a bid to host and the like? So, if they already know Oshkosh can't host, couldn't the pods be manipulated a little to give someone else hosting rights nearby without too many travel changes?

Yes, and they probably would. But they wouldn't likely put a second WIAC team there.
