Sun Prairie seniors Brock Voigt (6-5) and Alex Voigt (6-5) have both committed to UW-Eau Claire.

This article says Brock is a senior and "his sophomore brother Alex..."

Hmm, weird...when I saw the commitment, I didn't see the age of either player.  I don't think I've ever seen a non-senior commit to a D3 school.

According to wissports, they are both seniors...so, either that article is wrong or wissports is.

MaxPreps and Hudl both have them as seniors.

Uncommitted players that would be big gets for a WIAC program

Patrick Suemnick  Denmark

You can take this for whatever it's worth, but my Denmark insider tells me Suemnick is not looking at WIAC schools.  Says he is holding out for something to open up at one of the D2s that have been sniffing around and if nothing comes of that he is heading to Carroll and the CCIW.

I don't have any information regarding Suemnick, so your info could very well be spot on.  My list of players was only guys I know are getting some D2 interest and would therefore be priority D3 recruits.

I did watch Suemnick in their game against Waupun at State and was impressed.  If he ends up at Carroll, they should be ecstatic.  He's extremely athletic, rim protector and can hit shots from the outside as well.

Nice work Tom!

Looks like Point's stay near the top of the league is in serious jeopardy as they lose all five starters and 83% of their points, 69%  of their rebounds and 77% of minutes played. They return a couple of players that made strides at the end but unless they find some transfers they can plug in to the lineup they will be looking up at the rest of the league. I'm sure Whitewater will find their usual number of transfers that will enable them to remain competitive.

So what happens to Semling??

"A two-year show-cause order for the head coach. During that period, he must attend one NCAA Regional Rules Seminar and receive ethics training. The committee acknowledged his 13-game suspension during the 2016-17 season and required attendance at the 2016 NCAA Regional Rules Seminar. The committee noted it could have prescribed a more stringent show-cause order if the university had not taken this action."

We'd probably argue that show-cause is a significant impact as well. At this point, UWSP hasn't released any statements, but Semling will be gone by the end of the season at the latest, one would think. (UWSP faces a March 22 deadline to show cause why they should continue to employ him.)

If his job is in jeopardy we find out tomorrow, thought the AD says the job is his according to that article. https://www.d3hoops.com/notables/2019/02/ncaa-stevens-point-finally-close-case

Bobby Barker is mistaken.  Semling isn't going anywhere.  This has been going on for years and if the university felt Semling had to go he would have been gone long ago.   The NCAA will sign off on whatever reasons they are given.

The last radio show was mostly all about the recruiting efforts for this year.  And...you pretty much hit the nail on the head there.  Semling and Hockett mentioned what their goals were.  They want to balance out their classes some, losing 8 players in one offseason is not ideal.  They want to bring in 5-6 freshman along with a couple multi-year transfers.  With only 1 current commitment, there is a long ways to go.  They both seemed very optimistic that they would hit their goals with their Plan A guys.  Dominoes should start falling very soon.

Well, I'm still expecting a championship next season since we won in 2005, 2010 and 2015. We're obviously due. LOL ::) ;D

Well...I had low expectations after UWSP lost Tyler Tillema, Trevor Haas and Clayton Heuer...only to watch Austin Ryf, Jordan Lutz, Joe Ritchay and Alex Richard lead them to a National Title.  It's possible, but very unlikely.  I'm more worried about UWSP filling out their recruiting class with their first options and developing them.  A couple years down the road they will have a solid chance at another championship if that happens.

I am not sure this is an accurate perspective. This entire case got dragged out over three and a half years in part due to Semling and then their former AD. The school seemed ready to get this over with a long time ago. I am not sure that would sit well with many leaders of a school - to keep the school in the "news" longer than it needs to be.

Furthermore, these violations took place under other administrators. The current chancellor has been dealing with a lot of negative news for the campus as a whole - they are clearly sick of that and Semling being around keeps the "news" front and center. There is an AD who isn't interested in how things used to be done in the past. The NCAA is going to be watching with a much closer eye due in part to the probation period and a repeat offender. There are a lot of reasons and ways why I could see the school separating from Semling.

Will it happen? No idea. Could they stick with him for a host of other reasons? Certainly. Will they suck up the show-cause and make sure to monitor Semling and the program to a larger degree? Quite possible.

I am simple being a devil's advocate that maybe, just maybe, UWSP decides it is time to move on.
