UWSP scrimmaged UM-Duluth yesterday.  Duluth is loaded this year and I assumed Point wouldn't match up very well.  The first period showed that as I was told they won pretty easily.  2nd half was quite the contrary as Point was leading the entire way but wasn't able to hold on late.  As good as I think Duluth will be this year, I think that's a positive result.

UMD has 6 seniors, including Alex Illikainen

I don't get the "logic" involved in some of the pre-season finish order picks:  UWW has no returning starters or All WIAC returners, yet they are picked above RF? Much the same for Point (1 returning starter), LaCrosse (1 returning starter). Falcons have 3 returning starters, one All WIAC returner. Oh well, pre-season picks are meaningless anyway.

I get where you're coming from. But like you said, it really is meaningless. But even with all of La Crosse's losses, River Falls has to make up 6 conference games to equal them. And your Falcons lose a few good players too. They also have to gain four games on Platteville and Stevens Point. That's a lot to ask for in a 14-game schedule.

Also, as I previously stated, I'm disappointed that they don't disclose the votes/point each team received. I imagine Oshkosh was light years ahead of everyone else. Who knows, there may have only been 10 points separating 2-7.

Yea, I wouldn't put too much stock into it. UWRF certainly has some solid players coming back with experience. More than most ahead of them. UWRF happens to be the team way over there.  It's too bad. Arguably, one of the more consistent programs in the last 5 years. NCAA tournament bids, wiac championship, wiac championship games played. It will be a tough league. Always is...

The defending national champions has their roster posted. Really no surprises. Robinson and O'Connor have not returned.

I listened in, pretty underwhelming to be honest.  In my opinion, you normally get the most new information in the 1st and last radio shows.  I didn't learn much from the show last night.

They talked very briefly on the scrimmages.  Semling expects Duluth and Michigan Tech to be really good in D2 so they were good challenges.  In both scrimmages, Duluth and Tech won the first period pretty easily.  The second period UWSP was extremely competitive.  Which makes sense as Duluth and Tech have been practicing a lot longer than Point has.  Point started on the 23rd.  Duluth had practices back in August to gear up for a foreign trip where they played 3 games.  They should be way ahead of the game at this point.

As far as the rotation goes, I was surprised Semling wasn't confident one of the freshman would be in it.  I was almost sure that a freshman or 2 would need to be counted on.  According to Semling, the Sophomore through the Senior class will make up the rotation to start.  Another honest assessment that I hope I was wrong on, I didn't expect Wagner or Timmermann after seeing them in scrimmages and warmups to really help the team out in close games.  That's why I thought a freshman or 2 would play in the rotation from the start.  Semling also said that if a freshman did make the rotation that Kaden Clark is the farthest along.

Other than that, nothing noteworthy to bring up.

I did forget one thing I thought was interesting....Semling brought this up that UWSP is the only school in the conference this season that returned everyone that had eligibility left from last year's teams.  I thought about it, UWSP has been very good at retaining players.  When I look at most of the rosters' each year in the conference it does seem like a couple players don't return that could.

Flynn 1st team
Fravert HM
Bublitz HM (wow!)

Bublitz is a little shocking but maybe shouldn't be if you really think about it.  UWSP will probably struggle some offensively with their roster.  Bublitz is the only proven guy back who can score.  He very well could average close to 20 ppg with the volume of shots he can get.

Greek Tragedy

There's a lot of players that could average almost 20 ppg that aren't on the list.

Thanks Greek, looking forward to seeing what the Oshkosh can do for an encore. And in the words of Q it's Titans GameDay! Great preview that Q posted from the Quad Cities news. Muench is going to be a big contributor for this team. I'd think Peterson gets the start over Ebersold still coming back from injury.

Watched most of the Oshkosh game tonight.  Fravert had the best dunk at the D3 level I've seen...power dunk through traffic, then flexed on them on the way back to the other end.  I hope video of that makes it onto social media.
