La Crosse continues to roll. 89-60 over a one win Willamette team. Still hard to gage them with such a low SOS.

Can't wait to Augustana play the Eagles and Pointers to get a better feel of these teams.

Falcons beat number six ranked Nebraska Wesleyan 84-82. They made 10 out of 10 threes in the second half and finished with 18 out of 21 threes. That is unofficial of course. But if it stands is obviously some kind of record somewhere.

Sheepishly I return to correct my stats:  Falcons made "only" 18/30 threes for 60%. Noah Hanson led scoring with 23 on 7/9 threes. Matt Keller had 17 including 5/9 threes. He also had 7 assists. Julian Jackson finished w/16 and 5 blocked shots, including the final one by Shimonitz in the last two seconds. He scored 39, most in the second half, 14 above his average. He is tremendous. Ross Ingersoll had 12 including the winning three w/7 seconds left.

Nebraska Wesleyan used a 3-2 zone most of the game. It seemed to give us trouble in the first half and forced threes from outside our normal range. This was a signature win for Jeff Berkhof and the program.

Not really looked at the stats, but Point seemed to play a pretty poor game tonight. They did have the lead for a lot of the game, but went stone cold in the last 10 minutes or so. I'm confident we were out rebounded by a large margin, missed a lot of free throws and the 3-point shooting was horrible. In one "possession" at the beginning of the 2nd half, I think Augie got three or four offensive rebounds and ended up scoring. The Pointers' made little effort to go inside. They also gave up way too many easy baskets. I'm really not sure how good Point is, but a lot of teams would probably take 7-2. Two tough games in Texas next weekend before conference play starts.

Here, let me help you with that.

Rebounds: Augie: 43  Point: 31
Free throws: 15-26
3 pt: 5-26

All that being said I'd take 7-2.

True. Like I said, I guess I don't mind 7-2 when it looked like we'd lose that game v Wilmington and then playing "ranked at the time" CNU on their home court. I guess I didn't think we'd lay an egg vs Bethel, but whatever! I was at the game, so I wasn't really looking at stats. Checked them out when I got home, but didn't feel like posting the stats. Thanks though. Augie missed a ton of FTs too. So it goes...

They play UMHB the night after they tire themselves out running with Whitman, always an advantage.

Coincidentally, Illinois Wesleyan and UW-Platteville were practicing in side-by-side gyms at Southern Methodist U. in Dallas yesterday.  I was there to watch IWU practice and had to do a double take when I saw a second Division III team in the building.

Not to short-change Voelker, he also had 13 rebounds and 7 assists. Nate West had 34 and 9 in a losing effort.
