Greek Tragedy

Point was up 24-13 with 8:27 after starting out down 6-0. Then Point went into one of their patented cold streaks and Eau Claire cut it to 29-27 at the break.

La Crosse leads Oshkosh at the break 44-38.

Whitewater leads River Falls 34-33 at halftime.

Greek Tragedy

Oshkosh comes back to win Platteville holds serve and Point loses to Eau Claire.

Point basically has to win out. They still have La Crosse, Platteville and Oshkosh to play, along with Stout. The "not bad" news is the first three mentioned are all at home. A huge uphill battle to give them any shot at a Pool C bid.

The good news is Platteville has to split its final 4 games and Oshkosh has to sweep. The bad news for Platteville is 3 of the 4 are on the road. At WW which is a trap game, home against RF who beat them, at EC and the Zorn curse  (Platteville has never played well there Bo Ryan only won 2 games at Zorn) then  on the road at Point.  I still think it's Platteville's to lose but they will have to earn it.

I think Ken Anderson a WSUC coach who like Bo Ryan was hired as the head coach of the Wisconsin Badgers (he had a stellar 4 day career at Wisconsin) and his good Eau Claire teams had something to do with that curse.

Oshkosh at Stevens Point is the featured game tonight and one of the best rivalries we have.

Some updates:  Point radio men said Spray was cleared to play even for the Eau Claire game, but hadn't practiced and was not back in game shape yet. You could see him made a return this week and maybe even tonight, probably in a more limited role to start.

This was a nice short feature on Oshkosh freshman Levi Borchert. Borchert is averaging 10.1 points and 6.4 rebounds in conference play.

Borchert mentioned Mahoney's return is hopefully soon. It would be a big boost for the Titans to get him back in the rotation as the Oshkosh top 6 are logging a ton of minutes right now.

Should be a great game at the Quandt.

Also looking forward to an intriguing game at the Zorn. No doubt River Falls has played better in this second half and Eau Claire is still right in the mix for a bye.

The other two should go to script, but Whitewater at home could keep it close with Platteville.

Only two weeks in the regular season to go!

1. Platteville - 0.842 W% - 0.566 SOS
2. Wash U - 0.800 - 0.565
3. Benedictine - 0.857 - 0.493
4. SNC - 0.857 - 0.536
5. Eau Claire - 0.714 - 0.580
6. NCC - 0.810 - 0.523
7. Augustana - 0.727 - 0.578
8. Elmhurst - 0.818 - 0.526

----------------------------------

La Crosse - 0.762 - 0.530
Oshkosh - 0.619 - 0.618
Stevens Point - 0.667 - 0.603
IWU - 0.667 - 0.557
Wheaton IL - 0.619 - 0.546

A little surprised to see Eau Claire 15-6, 6-4 in there instead of La Crosse 16-5, 5-5. La Crosse did beat Eau Claire. *Edit - I do suppose there's a pretty big difference in the SOS.

No Point or Oshkosh, so they have a lot of work to do in the next three weeks...maybe too much work.

Based on other regions (namely Witt over Woo), Benedictine should be higher than UWSP.  That Point isn't ranked at all with a .667 and a .600+ SOS is a little interesting.  Just goes to show there's no hard-fast way of deciphering these things.

UWRF hits a buzzer 3 to take a 32-20 lead into halftime.  Blugolds shooting only 29.6% from the field including 3 of 13 from 3. They can go on big runs in a game if they get hot and will need one here in the second half if they want to pull this one out.

Maybe it's just me...but if it's not, UWSP technology department with a fantastic job tonight.  The feed didn't work for one second for me.  The last Pointer Hoops Radio show didnt work either because a cord was forgotten.

'95 Blugold

Well, the Blugolds needed a big second half run and they got it. After being down 16 early in the second half the Blugolds put up 50 in the second half as they hold off River Falls in the final minute to win 70-66.

Greek Tragedy

Point's video on youtube didn't work. I just watched live stats and Point needs to win the conference tournament if they are going to make the NCAAs. Disappointing season to say the least.

Point loses 66-59
Eau Claire storms back to win, 70-66
Platteville also comes back from a HT deficit to win at Whitewater, 70-68
La Crosse destroys Stout 94-62

Maybe the WIAC can get three in.

Apparently...the UWSP vs Oshkosh game will be uploaded on YouTube sometime now that the game is over.

This Point team isn't sniffing the Conference Championship game, let alone winning it.  It's another early end to the season with no end of those in sight.  Yes, they had the investigation to deal with, but they have had 3 brutal recruiting classes in a row now and have 0 commits this year when they need a huge influx of talent.  The WIAC isn't a conference where you can expect to have much success relying on underclassmen.  It will be a couple years before UWSP can compete for an NCAA tournament berth, and that's if the coaches can start figuring out how to win some recruiting battles.
