Eau Claire is hosting D3 womens hockey this weekend and I inquired on the event and so far they are intending to allow spectators for the game Saturday. NCAA wrestling finals that are being held at US Bank next weekend sounds like it will be spectatorless.

EDIT: I just looked on the Blugold site and both this weeks and next weeks quarterfinal hockey games will be played for the most part spectatorless.  Guess I'll be streaming.

Yeah ... NCAA has now made this a mandate for all events. Not something they normally do.
I heard that the NCAA may consider moving games to smaller venues makes me wonder if any D3 sites will be hosting?

D1 is considering moving D1 games in March Madness to smaller sites. I don't think DIII institutions will qualify in most cases.

For example, instead of playing the Final Four in Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta, they can play it in State Farm Arena where the NBA and NHL play (and the DII and DIII games are scheduled). They still need the infrastructure for CBS/Turner to televise the games and for the media that will be in attendance. DIIIs won't really have that kind of set-up.

Seeing as how they don't seem to want their own students on campus, it seems unlikely they'd be down for lots of random strangers.

Greek Tragedy

Any truth to the rumor that they are playing the quarters, semis and final all next weekend in Ft. Wayne?

Given that the conference tournaments for D1 have been cancelled now, I'll be really surprised if this weekends games (and the D1 NCAA tourney) end up getting played at all.

Greek Tragedy

I believe the NCAA said they will play the games without fans. The conference tournaments are up to each individual conference.

As of yesterday that was the plan, yes. But as of yesterday, the conference tournaments were still being played. Once the conference tournaments start dropping (basically all of them), it doesn't really make sense to play a national tournament. COVID-19 isn't magically going away. The concerns behind even just having players on the court (after 2 NBA players tested positive) even without fans remain the same.
The NCAA is really the collection of institutions and these the are the same institutions behind decisions for campus closures and conference tournaments.

At this time ... no. The schedule at Fort Wayne outside of the DIII tournament is pretty tight. I am not sure they could if they tried, but who knows. As I understand it... this hasn't even been discussed.

I'm pretty sure Kingsley has left the program.  This was really a disappointing season made worse by the number of times the team came so close but lost because of a couple of possessions.  I can barely describe how frustrating it was time after time.  We could just never get over that hump.  But I'm excited about next season.  I know our record is what it is but I sincerely believe we are loaded with talent and I know the staff will bring in some more.  We're not going to be sitting at the bottom of this league next year.

Reedsburg G, Will Fuhrmann, will play for Coach Dernbach at La Crosse.  Big win over the rest of the WIAC for Dernbach.  Fuhrmann's dad played for a National Championship team at Platteville and I figured that's where he would end up.

While the season came to an abrupt end, there are still student-athletes, coaches, and programs to recognize for what they accomplished this season.

On a special edition of Hoopsville, we not only look at the final Top 25 polls of the season, but we also take a look at the All-Region awards. Plus, the NABC All Star Rosters are announced, exclusively, here tonight. We then will talk to long time NABC Board of Directors member Pat Cunningham about the team and the announcement he is retiring as Trinity (Texas) men's basketball coach.

And we have a round-table discussion of all things Division III basketball. Pat Coleman, Gordon Mann, Ryan Scott, and Bob Quillman saddle up to their computers and join us for a spirited chat and maybe even answer your questions.

Wabash(IN) 6'8" F, Elijah Vander Velden, has committed to play basketball at UWSP.  Indiana certainly isn't a normal recruiting territory for the Pointers but his size should be a welcome addition.
