Madison La Follette G, Ben Probst, committed to Platteville today.  Had a final 3 of La Crosse, Stevens Point and Platteville.  This one really hurts the Pointers.  I'm losing any confidence that Hockett and Semling can get any recruiting momentum.  Zastrow was a solid get, but when you need 6 solid gets in 1 class, you can't afford losing these battles you've put so much time into.

When you're a winning program, you attract good players. Point won the title in 2015, went to the Sweet 16 in 17-18, but those kids don't remember that kind of stuff. They see Platteville in the postseason the last three years, not when they were 1-13 in the conference in 16-17. It's What Have You Done Lately.

I'm still confident Point will get it together. It may not happen all next year with 10 quality recruits, but it will happen.

I wish I shared your same optimism.  But, there are only a handful more kids out there that can save UWSP's recruiting class at this point.  A couple of them that I know UWSP are recruiting just received some D2 offers.  I don't see a turn around anytime soon, this class needed to be the start but it won't be.

Like I said, it may not all happen next year, but it will happen. I think you're dreaming if you actually think Point is going to get a class of 10 impact recruits in one year when they haven't had 10 impact recruits in the last 3 years (or more), combined.

When have I ever said 10??  I've always said 5-6.  The playing time available along with all the resources and history UWSP has, I expected more success from Semling and Hockett.

I'm assuming most ppl that follow the WIAC thought that UWSP was struggling the last few years on the recruiting trail because of the investigation.  The investigation is over and UWSP is still losing all the battles against Oshkosh, La Crosse and Platteville.

I'll just go out and say what I thought the year Dernbach had to take over UWSP when Semling was suspended.  Dernbach should have been given the full time gig after the suspension was over.  Dernbach had that years team playing way better than Semling ever had them.  Dernbach has owned UWSP while he has been at La Crosse, on top of that I can't think of a recruiting battle he has lost to Semling and Hockett unless Zastrow had interest from La Crosse.

I haven't been following the UWSP academic programs closely, but is it accurate that they have been cutting academic programs over the past few years? If so, does that have anything to do with recruiting if fewer academic programs are now being offered for potential recruits?

I believe Stevens Point back-tracked on most of the proposed cuts.

For example, the History Department was on the chopping block, but they still have History as a major.

Stout schedule is up.

Good news out of Menomonie: Jackson Noll of undefeated Cuba City and son of Mark Noll and grandson of AAU's Keith Noll is coming to UWStout. Great shooter, great work ethic and just an outstanding young man.  Lots of friends in Menomonie who will enjoy watching Jackson play here.

I haven't watched this yet... but UWSP did a "Wisdom Wednesday" with Jack Bennett today:

They did one last week with retired (and HOF) AD Frank O'Brien which was very good.
