Whitewater got a big commit from Racine St Catherine's G, Jameer Barker.  Barker had some D2 offers in basketball and football.  Warhawks will be tough again in the near future with their returners as well as how they have recruited the past couple years.

6'5" Maple Grove(MN) F, Terence Larmouth-Anthony, has committed to play basketball at UWRF.

WIACer

Falcons adding some talent with their recruits. Big and Athletic. 6'5" Anthony-Larmouth, 6'7" Payne, 6'8" Liefker.

Wow, interesting. It looks like the WIAC is going to play December 1st and 4th, 2021 and take byes January 29th and February 19th 2022.

Blast from the past...

Stout update. I watched their awards program from last month.

These senior players are returning in 21-22: Tyreese Alexander, Luke Geiger, Jon Ciriacks, Armani Tinsley, Kyle Williams, and Demetri Martin.

These players have ended their time with the program: Brady Booth graduated (STL Logan U Grad school), Marcus Hill graduated (previously at NDSCS), Zach Miller graduated (in three years), and Josh Mericle (graduating in December).

A person of interest for the WIAC...

Former 6'1" Muskego standout and Northern Michigan player, AJ Makinen, looks to be transferring from the school.  He was listed as a redshirt freshman this season at Northern Michigan, with it being a free year, I would think he would still have 4 years of eligibility even though this coming year would be his 3rd year in college.  I know UWSP has shown interest, not sure about other WIAC schools.

That's a good development for Stout's prospects next year getting that many of their seniors back.  A lot can change before next year but I think this news catapults Stout ahead of UWSP and UWRF.  UWSP has done nothing so far with adding players and has only subtracted easily their best player.  UWRF is an unknown next year.  We know Stensgard is gone, but what about Ohde?

Oshkosh, La Crosse and Platteville fighting it out at the top is how I see it.  Whitewater could be in that mix as well if Ards is back.  Eau Claire and Stout in the next tier with UWRF and UWSP at the bottom.  Things can still change and we will see what other incoming players and seniors returning happen.

Gavin Ralph will not be playing basketball in the WIAC, he has committed to Minnesota State-Mankato:

UW-La Crosse has gotten a huge commitment from Sussex Hamilton PG, Tanner Resch.  That's another kick in the groin for Point fans, just pathetic on the recruiting trail for Hockett and Semling right now.

tomt4525

Rather have Resch, but D2 Northern Michigan transfer and former Muskego standout, AJ Makinen, has committed to UWSP.

tomt4525

6'9" Hustisford F, Alex Eggleston, has committed to Whitewater.  He looked really good in 2 state games this past season.  If he develops, could be a steal at the D3 level.

tomt4525

Garrett Nelson has officially gotten into grad school at UWSP and will be back for a 5th season, so the prospects of UWSP's season has gone from brutal to very bad at the moment.

So why is it the Pointers no longer get top of the line recruits? What happened to Zastrow from Manitowoc Lutheran and the stud from Oswego Fairchild who had committed to Point? It's frustrating to see as for the longest time the Pointers were a shoe in to be in top 10-15 in the nation and now they can't land anyone.

They were both on campus and moved in last year, 4 players ended up opting out on the season....I'm thinking and hoping both Zastrow and Mulhern were 2 of the 4.  Also FYI, it's Osseo Fairchild.

This is a guess because the information was never given...but I believe the 4 players who opted out were Trey Zastrow, Logan Mulhern, Vaughn Breit and Jacob Newhouse.  They were on campus and moved in and practiced for awhile, then weren't on the roster when the season started.

Has anyone seen Mulhern play since his performance at state? I'm sure the guy can still play but I have seen some kids lose their skills quickly if they haven't touched a ball. Zastrow I'm not worried about I've seen him play several times and he can ball and should immediately step in and be a starter and a kid who can hold his own. If indeed those 2 kids are playing it sets a good foundation at least I think but they'll need much more to compete in top 4 spots of the WIAC.
