St John's Military Academy 6'5" F, Brennan Timm, has committed to play for the Pointers.  Should be a solid get for Coach Semling, hopefully more to come.

Too bad we didn't get Brennan's teammate, Brandin Podziemski. LOL

Burlington G, Joey Berezowitz, has committed to Whitewater.

Will Mahoney shown with big knee brace and crutches tonight in team photo. Could be a big loss for Oshkosh if he's not ready and 100% for the season.

G/F Brenden Weis (6-5) of Janesville Parker has committed to UW-Stout.

Thanks tomt4525. Are there any WIAC recruits who you would expect to make a big first-year impact?

That's a really tough question to answer because the people I would want to choose, are going to already loaded rosters and minutes will be really tough to get as true freshman.  Also, I'm not sure if you want me to include transfer players or just incoming freshman.

The freshman I expect to make the biggest impacts early on would be Connor Jenkins at Oshkosh and Tanner Resch at La Crosse.  Jenkins had multiple D2 offers before deciding on Oshkosh, he's a tough matchup considering his mobility at 6'7".  My hesitation in expecting big things from Jenkins comes from Oshkosh returning everyone from a loaded rotation.

With Resch,  he's another D2 level player that in most years would have had many offers to choose from.  Now with schools looking at the transfer portal, I think he got overlooked a bit.  Fuhrmann had a pretty bad injury late last season and if he doesn't come back healthy early on, there are minutes for Resch to step into at the Guard position.  He's a shot maker that seems to be in the right place at the right time and makes the right plays.

I would also expect AJ Makinen to step into big minutes at UWSP instantly.  They return a terrible roster and need his shooting ability in the lineup.  With the extra year of eligibility for everyone last season, I believe he still has 4 years of eligibility at UWSP.  He already has 2 years of experience in college which should help him acclimate right away.

UWRF has also posted a preseason roster for next season.

https://uwrfsports.com/sports/mens-basketball/roster/2020-2021

Looks like none of the seniors are coming back for another year as well as a starter, Austin Werdin, not coming back next season.  They also lost a couple undersclassmen that didn't really play last year in AJ Kloos and Riley Hulke.  I would expect a tough season for UWRF next year, them and UWSP can fight it out at the bottom unless there are some major transfers we don't know about yet.
